If you rely on laptop computers for running your business, you'll need to spend extra time cleaning and maintaining them. Aside from the typical keyboard and screen cleaning, you must clean the vents on a regular basis. Fan intake vents can clog with dust and dirt, causing your computer to run slowly and eventually overheat. If left alone for too long, the lack of air flow can permanently damage your computer, causing a loss of important data and reducing your business' productivity.
1
Turn off your laptop and remove the battery. There will be a slider switch on the bottom or the laptop that releases the battery.
2
Hold a can of compressed air upright and spray the air directly into the fan intake vents on the side and bottom of the laptop. If you don't have compressed air, use a hair dryer on the "Cool" setting.
3
Remove any excess debris from the vents with the tube attachment of a vacuum or a pair of tweezers.
