Context:
I think this (having a church or temple) will improve my local area because people these days tend to be more materialistic and selfish compared to the past. It is not the case that they dont want to be more generous and live a happy life, it is because they dont know how. I think religion can help people to improve themselves. I think "live a happy life" doesn't really fit the above sentence there. Since "generous" expresses an opposite meaning of "selfish", I would like to write a phrase or word (that is opposite to materialist) to replace "live a happy life". But none of these words I found great synonyms for "materialistic" on the new Thesaurus.com! serve the purpose. Could you please let me know any appropriate choices? Thank you! |
