Once tobacco is dried, it is mixed with other substances and then rolled into cigarettes.
Some people smoke cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco (do not swallow it though), or inhale it through hookahs.
Contains a very addictive drug, nicotine which changes how your brain functions.
When tobacco is smoked, nicotine passes through the mouth and nose, into the lungs.
The nicotine and other harmful drugs stay in the lungs, even when they blow the smoke out.
Tar is the solid particles in the smoke and contains nicotine and other harmful substances. It is the same as the tar used for roads. It irritates the tissue in your lungs and throat → coughs.
Nicotine enters the bloodstream almost immediately and makes blood vessels smaller → heart has to work harder → high blood pressure.
Smoking also gives you bad voice, bad breath, yellow teeth, cancer, and
nicotine addiction.
