A simple gesture can brighten up someone's day. Giving a shout-out is a great way to recognize your peers for their work, talent, and living our institutional values, and to contribute to a culture of appreciation, community, and kindness.

September Shout-Outs

• Physical Plant staff: On a sleepless night, I put in a request for a bookshelf at 1:30 in the morning. When I arrived at my office around 8:40 am, the bookshelf was already there, waiting for me! Such efficiency is impressive and should be recognized!
• Megan Sheldon: Megan, you are a yes person! Thank you for seeing possibilities and sharing your knowledge and time to support faculty, staff, and student development. Thank you for bringing a positive "can-do" spirit to so many campus events.
• Ed Schlak: Ed is a rock star. Keeping the Mail Center functioning is no small feat, especially when you receive 700 packages a day for a few days straight. With gaps in time before Student Employees could start their shifts, he worked through the whole day (who needs lunch anyway...) and always managed to get to the bottom of the pile. What a crazy first few weeks of the semester that Ed navigated with grace. Next time you see him, give him a virtual pat on the back. Better yet, avoid Amazon and save a package ;)
• Jessa Karki, Elin Melchior, Ted Winokur, Kellie Nadeau, Alex Hernandez, Monique Taylor: Champlain College now has an official Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the University of the Bahamas thanks to a great working team! A big thank you to President Alex Hernandez and Provost Monique Taylor for their support. A special thanks to Jessa Karki who provided international student exchange expertise, to Elin Melchior for her study abroad expertise, and to Kellie Nadeau for scheduling multiple virtual meetings. A special shout-out goes to Ted Winokur for his legal contract expertise and who worked several hours over a weekend to get the documents prepared and routed for signatures.
• Danielle L'Esperance: Danielle has been leading her team with grace through the start of the semester and has weathered the storm of the semester starting with a small staff. She accomplishes so much every day and can always quickly answer questions or point folks in the right direction. Thank you Danielle for doing all that you do!
• Bruce Bovat and Cory Davis: A huge thank you to Bruce and Cory for giving a fantastic presentation on safety and supporting students to the Library and SMART Space student worker teams! Your care for the wellbeing and safety of Champlain students is wonderful and contagious!
• Dr. Nicole Morris: A big congrats to Nicole who was named the second Robert P. Stiller Endowed Chair of Management for the year. We are thrilled about the talent and ideas Dr. Morris will bring to this role as she helps embed strength-based learning into the Stiller student experience!
• Linda Reid: Linda has been amazingly helpful and supportive in working with me from the start of my time with Champlain in learning and understanding many key parts of my role. I would like to thank her for all of her time and support!
• The entire move-in team: I'm submitting this shout-out as a neighbor as well as a colleague. Ever since we moved to South Willard Street, my family and I have marveled at Champlain's beautifully choreographed first-year move-in process. It all moves quickly, smoothly, and cheerfully; traffic never backs up, and everything's totally done by noon! Serious props, appreciation, and thanks to everyone who makes this minor miracle happen every August.
• Dan Selicaro and Ezra Demers: Thank you both so much for your help and support with the huge reporting and updating process. You were both always quick with assistance, helpful, positive, and open to additional questions and support!
• Kim Moran: Kim must be completely buried in student hiring requests right now, and yet every time I pester her with a question about student worker hiring or onboarding she responds quickly, kindly, and most helpfully. Thank you, Kim!
• Joel Lenoir and Tara Arneson: Amazing work getting through the start of the semester and launch of Self-Service. Thank you for your quick turnaround troubleshooting work!

August Shout-Outs

• Everyone!: Thank you, thank you, thank you! Orientation was a huge success this year and it could not be done without you and all of your efforts! YOU make our community come together by showing up and supporting our initial welcome to student's college experience! Not going to name names because there are too many people to thank but the for folks who volunteered on top or your role in Orientation with the Move-In Crew really go above and beyond to help support the incoming first year class which sets the tone for the day/weekend/year! Thank you all for your efforts and support as we lift off for a great year ahead and "Rise Above".
• Dr. Christina Erickson: Christina works tirelessly for our entire community to promote community-engaged learning AND sustainability on campus. She is brilliant, has important institutional knowledge, and has a clear vision of how to get Champlain to carbon neutrality. Students love working with her, and her sense of humor makes Champlain a more fun place. Thank you, Christina!
• Dr. Barbara Colombo: Congratulations to Dr. Barbara Colombo for being invited to speak at the Neuroergonomics and NYC Neuromodulation Conference this summer. We are so fortunate to have such a brilliant neuroscientist at Champlain!
• Cory Davis: Thank you, Cory, for assuming the Interim Director of Housing and Residential Life! You handled issues during move in with grace and care. I appreciate your willingness to jump into this role to support our Housing and Residential Life team and the residents on campus!
• Ian Fournier: Ian was a "behind the scenes" wizard during move in. Thank you for responding to lots of different issues like a champ. The residents at 194 St. Paul Street are lucky to have you working with them! We are lucky to have you on our team as an Assistant Director!
• Josh McCormack, Juliana Burch, Michael Fay: Josh, Juliana, and Michael were an amazing threesome during Move In! They greeted new students and families with smiles and open arms. Students in need received care as soon as they stepped on campus. They responded to many different issues over the move in time frame and continued to approach every issue with care. Thank you!
• Alexandria Clyburn: Alexandria has been amazing this past month--learning The Housing Director, making last-minute assignments, negotiating difficult housing situations. Then, Move In happened and Alexandria supported the students and families moving in--always with a smile on her face and a 'can do' attitude. Thank you Alexandria and Welcome (Back) to the Team!
• Housing & ResLife and Student Engagement Teams: These teams have worked tirelessly over the summer to create a residence hall move-in and welcoming first day that is meaningful, smooth, and as stress free as possible for our students and families! They've put in the hours, the miles, and the sweat to helping our students and their families have a positive first impression being at the Champlain Burlington campus. Great work all and we couldn't be here without your tireless work, dedication, and problem-solving!
• Move-In Crew: To all of the staff, students, and faculty who helped our new incoming students and their families carry refrigerator after refrigerator into the dorms. You ROCK!!
• Physical Plant Team, especially Josh and Connor: The PP team has been working double double time getting campus ready for student move in. 95 degrees, rain, and everything in between, they are out there working hard!
• Maintenance and Grounds Crews: Wow. Campus is looking better than ever! Your hard work does not go unnoticed. Thank you!
• JJ Anderson: JJ has been a huge help, he is professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He has helped out team in resolving many challenges this week. Thank you, JJ!
• Housing & Res Life Team: Shout out to the Res Life and Housing Team as they prepare for students to return to campus. Your work is so important and we appreciate all you do!
• Jen Adrian, JJ Anderson, Carrie Honneman, Kellie Nadeau, Christian Konczal, Ryan Gillen, Stella Santos, Lyle King, Zoltan Sachs, Megan Everts, and Marita Martin: Either by assisting with behind-the-scenes logistics or giving an in-person tour of their area, this group ensured a faculty candidate's campus visit went smoothly and represented Champlain with grace, enthusiasm, and flexibility.
• Bridget Calacci & Cooper Fellows: Our new TAP website is launched! Thank you to Bridget for bringing this project to the finish line and to Cooper for problem-solving with us to build the forms and features we needed.
• Ezra Demers: Ezra made our first day of TAP run smoother than ever! We welcomed 17 new teaching candidates to Lakeside starting on August 10 and Ezra's facilitation of logistics (parking, IDs, wifi) made their introduction to campus an especially positive one.
• Laura Ennis: Laura has been an amazing addition to the Online Financial Aid office! She provides information and assistance to online students and staff in such a timely, friendly and informative manner--it makes that department "hit it out of the park"! :)
• Miranda Orcutt: Miranda has been an incredible asset to the ODI team this year! Unfortunately, her AmeriCorps volunteer position is just about over. We will miss you dearly Miranda and thank you for your year of service! Best wishes on your next adventure!
• Juliana Burch, Ciera Miller, and Hannah Marton: Juliana Burch, Ciera Miller, and Hannah Marton for their participation in the search committee for the WGC's new Program Coordinator position. • Everyone at Physical Plant: A huge SHOUT OUT to everyone in Physical Plant (both staff and students as well) who work so hard (even in this grueling heat) to make our campus look beautiful for visitors and us as well. I can't tell you how many times I've heard visitors comment on how gorgeous campus is and it makes such a good impression. We appreciate you!
• Caroline Toy: Your ability to take an idea and turn it into something incredibly useful is amazing! You are efficient, are always on point, and produce the most excellent resources for our faculty. Just wow!
• Joel Lenoir: Amazing timely service to pressing needs in the new student self service portal that has saved our department a ton of emails/phone calls!
• Marnie Behrendt: Marnie has worked alongside me on a project that I had reached out to her about with questions on - Her willingness to jump in and spend time with me on it was amazing. It made a huge difference to have Marnie there to go to with questions, and to review where I was at in the project with her. Marnie spent a lot of time helping me when she had a lot of other things on her plate. Her Excel knowledge is also awesome. I'm super glad to get to work with Marnie and aspire to provide support to coworkers and colleagues like she does.

• Shaylea Scribner: I would just like to take a moment to thank Shaylea for all her hard work representing Staff Council for the last four years. What a four years it has been! During her term, Shaylea worked with five (5!) different College presidents and navigated a global pandemic. Still, never did she falter in her optimism, practicality, care for the College, and care for her colleagues. Thank you for your service, Shaylea!
• People Center: HUGE shoutout and thank you to the People Center for sponsoring the drinks and delicious, delicious pizza at this year's Staff Council end of the year party!
• Tim Van Woert: As the end of the fiscal year approaches, and many projects need to be finished on time, things naturally go awry at every opportunity. Nonetheless, Tim remains calm, unflappable, and on top of all the details. Thank you, Tim!

• Liza Geduldig, Kellie Nadeau, Linda Goodrum and the entire commencement team: Kudos to the entire commencement team, led by Liza, Kellie and Linda! Your efforts in all of the behind the scenes planning made the 2022 Commencement ceremonies meaningful for all of our graduating students and their families. The attention to detail was amazing, and no challenge was insurmountable. Well done, everyone!
• Kelsey O'Connor: Kelsey is a super special person! She works hard, never complains, and is someone who is often behind the scenes of good things happening around campus! Her help at commencement was vital, she was outside all day, pretty much from 7-4 pm on that 88+ degree day. That's Kelsey and how she tends to take care of things with no complaints! Thanks for making Champlain a great place for students and faculty and staff.
• Lisa Martinez: Whether she is delivering the mail when Steve is on vacation or coordinating the details of an installation project, Lisa is always calm and unflappable, and always has a kind word for a colleague, no matter how busy she is!
• Diane Soboski: Congrats to Diane for being elected as the next PRESIDENT of the New England Association for College Admissions Counseling (NEACAC)! Champlain and institutions across New England are lucky to have your experienced voice representing college admissions professionals, secondary school counselors, college bound organizations, and educational consultants at the regional and national levels for Enrollment and college access.
• Christian Konczal: Christian has done an amazing job supporting the Varsity teams who have even reached the playoffs for so many teams! He sets the tone for what varsity sports should look like and does a great job supporting students academically, socially, and of course in the world of esports.
• Diane Byrnes: I appreciate how lovely our campus is and I appreciate that people like Diane go out of their way to stop and pick up garbage along the sidewalk and keep it that way.

• Maddie Braz: Shout out to Maddie Braz of the Office Of Accessibility for daring to run with CCO Adjunct Neil Groberg's Vermont City Marathon's Relay Team.
• Sara Quintana: As Director of HR, Sara must juggle more plates than I can imagine. Even so, when she meets with employees to help them navigate concerns or challenges, she is so supportive and helpful. She really cares about the staff at Champlain, and she truly wants to help. Thank you for your support, Sara!
• JJ Anderson: It has been so wonderful to see JJ go from student worker to pro-staff employee, and now to see him thriving and excelling in his role as helpdesk lead, where he is always so helpful, calm, and kind. Also a particular shoutout for the incredible work he did at this year's graduation ceremony. What a rock star!
• Lisa Mazzariello: Seeing our students interact with Lisa as the semester wrapped up as well as during commencement shows how much she is connected to them. It is clear that they appreciate everything she does for Champlain and the support she has provided them during their time at Champlain. • Jared Cadrette: Jared and the Student Engagement Team put together a fun filled week of events for our Senior Week. • Luke Lewis: Luke Lewis has counseled hundreds of students during his tenure at Champlain. • Student Health Center Staff: We've had a lot of COVID cases on campus in the last few weeks and the health center staff has done a phenomenal job monitoring their email/phones, contacting positive students, and working with them to relocate to isolation housing. Thank you for all your hard work these last few weeks, and this entire year!

Tim was attentive, proactive, and always available to our team members to listen to our needs and iron out wrinkles in the process. He was always supportive, available, and patient and brought his sense of humor to this project! No detail was too small! Thank you Tim from the OFA!
• Susan Adkins, Jessica Allard, Sarah Camille Wilson, Leslie Van Wagner, Lauren Bruneau, Erik Eskilsen, Liz Allen-Pennebaker, Faith Yacubian, and Miriam Horne: This is the team that made Research & Write Night a huge success! Both events had a great student turnout, where they were greeted with food, goodies, and all the help and encouragement they could need while finishing up their final papers and research projects. Thanks to everyone for your contributions!
• Silas Farrar: Silas is always responsive to and patient with questions about payment processes. He was particularly helpful with student travel stipends and other financial questions related to the Freeman Foundation internship program that needed a quick turnaround.
• All who attended the Caste book club: This book club gave me a sense of pride for the place and admiration for my colleagues. Caste is a powerful well written book that formed the base for meaningful discussion. The organizers brought profound questions and lead with kindness and curiosity. At times conversations were not easy, but they were always important. Many members went on to form book groups within their own spheres or passed the book on to others who would benefit from it. This demonstrates how Champlain is an absolute benefit to the larger community. Thank you to ALL who came for any length of time-YOU make me love where I work.
• Ed Schlak: Ed does such a great job of ensuring everyone gets their mail, even in the current very weird world of shipping. Thank you, Ed!
• Domenic Liberti and Gavin: For their prompt response to a malfunctioning copier.
• The Caste reading group team: Veronica Lewis, Sarah Camille Wilson, Monica Fung-Janardhan, Marita Martin: Their amazing job for coordinating and facilitating the bi-weekly book club for the book "Caste: The Origins of our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson. The team provided compelling and engaging questions and created a welcoming and safe environment for participants to share personal stories, thoughts, and reflections. I'm grateful to this team for creating a venue to discuss this important book.
• Susan Adkins and Celia Russell: Susan and Celia have taken on additional work to cover two library maternity leaves. If you haven't noticed any change in library services, it is because of their incredible work and dedication. Thank you, Susan and Celia, for helping our library continue to thrive with a reduced team!
• Tara Arneson: Tara is an extraordinary resource and teammate, and her recent (though consistent and ongoing) help to the CCO Academic Advising Team in particular warrants a huge THANK YOU!
• Leslie Averill: You should have seen how well Leslie Averill represented the College at the Family Reception Friday night at Admitted Students Day! She had people laughing, cheering, and really engaging in the process of deciding to trust their students with us. It was a real treat to be part of that event and I am sure many students walked away feeling more comfortable with Champlain having heard from Dr. Averill! Bravo!
• Jenna Giguere and the Student Engagement Team: Did you know we have a dance team and a coach that is loved by her students?! Well, this is what one of her students said about her after Jenna and the Dance Team knocked their Dance Showcase out of the park: "Love this ❤️ you are my biggest inspiration and guiding light! She has worked hard to organize and facilitate events for Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month. • Maddie Braz: There are not enough words to express how amazing Maddie is. She is a wonderful colleague and has worked wonders in the Office of Accessibility. The work that she does is phenomenal. The students and Champlain College are lucky to have her as part of the team.
• Brady Mueller, Caroline Steele, Courtney Ellison, Emily Fenuccio, Kaelyn Murray, Lida Ghamsari, Mark Pierce, Michelle Platt, Oliver Brooks, Sara Stancliffe, Sarah Calnan: Through many changes, challenges, shifts, surprises, and uphill climbs - the CCO Advisors have met them all while STILL maintaining relationships with their online students and supporting those students through their own personal changes, challenges, shifts, surprises, and uphill climbs. You will find no other advisors more committed to supporting adult, online students than this group. Our online students are well supported, listened to, and guided gracefully by the CCO Advising team. In a world turned upside-down for us all, the CCO Advisors remained a steady beacon throughout the pandemic so that our online students could be as successful as possible. Thank you for all that you do, day after day, for our adult, online students. They, and we, are the better for everything you give and share.
• Emily Fenuccio and Kaelyn Murray: Emily and Kaelyn have done an amazing job as Team Leads for the CCO Advisors. They are knowledgeable, kind, patient, smart, and truly supportive. It's an absolute pleasure to work with these two and know they are dependable, they are flexible, and they truly care about helping our online students and their advisors to be successful. Kudos to you both! Thank you for navigating the uncertainty of these times for our online students with grace and with enthusiasm.
• Michael Versluys: Quick turnaround, recommendations, and help with logo use on promotional items.
• Sarah Camille Wilson: Sarah Camille is quite actually the best. She takes on so much to help others and doesn't ask for a thing in return. She deserves all the shout outs, all the time.
• All the amazing bakers from the 1st Annual Pie Bake-Off: The Pie Bake-Off and all of Pi(e)stravaganza was a huge success. Students, faculty, and staff loved being able to sample so many delectable treats and that was entirely due to all of our voluntary bakers bringing their A+ game in making such a wide variety of truly beautiful and decadent pies. The Great Champlain Bake-Off: Pie episode could give any GBBO contestant a run for their money.
• Patricia Boera: Outstanding coordination of the 15th annual Elevator Pitch competition. Supporting students, building community partnerships, expanding cross-divisional interactions to achieve a unifying demonstration of the bright lights-the students!

• Monica Fung Janardhan and Miranda Orcutt: Monica and Miranda do a great job making the ODI a space where students feel welcome, and free to be themselves! The ODI radiates with energy, comradery, and support.

• Joe Eastman: Joe Eastman is one of the competition directors for NECCDC 2022 as well as one of the officials for the NECCDC qualifier and regional competitions. Joe has driven this effort from the start of planning in Summer of 2021 to the recent successful qualifier competition hosted by Champlain College this month. Joe has spent hundreds of hours in support of this volunteer effort which will culminate in over a hundred students and numerous sponsors descending on campus over Spring Break for the NECCDC Regional Competition. Bravo Joe!
• Staff Networking Committee: Thank you to the Staff Networking Committee & Staff Council Executive Committee for working so diligently to package and deliver all of the cards for colleagues both virtually and in-person on Valentine's Day! It was amazing to see such an outpour of love and appreciate for colleagues all across campus!
• Cooper Fellows & Matt Gagne: A HUGE thank you to Cooper and Matt for all their work on the Staff Council blog migration! The new site looks terrific, and usability has greatly improved! It was a pleasure working with you on this project.
• BJ Sneed: BJ has been a valued member of the eLearning team since her first day. She hit the ground running and has taken on a number of projects and builds in the short time she has been with the team. She jumps in with a positive attitude, creative eye, and critical perspective that will certainly benefit CCO as we continue to grow, refine our processes and develop our courses. Great work BJ!
• Emily Crist: Emily is so busy trying to make sure that everything is taken care of before her maternity leave. Even so, she always has time for anyone who needs her, and she also took the time on top of her incredibly packed schedule to bake homemade cookies for a student event! What a hero.
• Kate Cronin and Nic Anderson: Quick and creative responses - and actual heavy lifting - on furniture requests in Ireland.
• Julie Eldred: Julie always has prompt and pleasant solutions for all payroll questions. Our payroll system would not function nearly as well without her!
• Ryan from Champ Support: For his prompt response and quick fix for a malfunctioning copier.
• Whitney Feininger: Whitney joined Stiller in December and, despite her relative tenure, has done an incredible job of preparing the division to host three dean candidates over a period of two weeks. A daunting undertaking for even the seasoned veterans at Champlain. Whitney deserves our gratitude and admiration for being a quick study and doing whatever it takes to get the job done. We have been admiring her dedication and commitment to the rink and have watched her from our warm office while she was out there in the coldest of days, working on getting the rink ready for our students to use! • January Orientation Participants: Thank you to everyone who participated in making January Orientation a success! We had an amazing group of new students and we could not have done the program without your help and dedication!
• Elin Melchior: Elin has gone above and beyond the call of duty to keep international education in operation during an extremely challenging 2 years. She has been the sole staff member in the Burlington Study Abroad for nearly a year, and has worked on projects well beyond her official job description. We could not have launched successful semesters in Montreal and Dublin this spring without all her efforts over the past year. This week, as we finally bring in a new colleague to join Elin in this work, I hope the campus will let her know how much she is appreciated and how crucial she is to our student's success abroad.
• Kyla Paul: Kyla has been an amazing addition to the Champlain community! She is wonderful to work with and is always thinking of new and efficient ways to streamline work. We're so lucky to have you, Kyla!
• Kelsey O'Connor, Christina Erickson, Monica Fung-Janardhan, Cory Davis, Skip Harris, Emily Merrill, Miranda Orcutt, Lisa Mazzariello: This team of folks, along with the Housing and Residential Life team, volunteered to deliver weekend meals to our students in Covid Isolation housing. • Liza Geduldig: Thank you, Liza, for putting on an incredible holiday party! The food was amazing, the decorations were festive, and the music was awesome! A good time was had by all!
• Public Safety: Last night, my Tacoma started inching its way down Maple Street while I was giving a final in Joyce. I was parked just down the hill from the CCM stairs. The truck was almost in the intersection of Willard by the time I heard about it. Public Safety had everything well in hand by the time I got on the scene. The truck was chalked-up, the street was lit up like Christmas, and everybody was very concerned, but smiling. Upshot? I am so, so grateful to work shoulder to shoulder with the very best. Public Safety, I will remain howling in your direction.
• Kaylee Sullivan & Leah Miller: Thank you to Kaylee & Leah (and the Staff Networking Committee) for organizing a super fun event, the Annual Gingerbread Contest! It was such a welcome break from the stress of the end of the semester, and a great way to connect with colleagues!

• Tim Van Woert: Tim is so on top of things, and takes the time to walk around campus and proactively pay attention to what needs to get done!
• Ryan Hicks: Ryan demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment to engage with Program Directors in order to develop the best courses possible. I've appreciated his patience as well as clear guidance about what he is asking for as our courses take shape. I've come to see him as a thought partner, whose experience goes beyond the technical and includes deep insight about what works and is in the best interest of our students.
• Monica Fung Janardhan: Monica and her team have reset the tone of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion. She is bringing students back to ODI in a way that invites them to come as they are and celebrate the DEI initiatives that are happening on campus. She is also there to support students as they explore their own identities and grow and develop. She is not one to sugarcoat the challenges of race relations within our community and is always there to support and educate. Monica is the perfect fit in ODI and has done a great way in all aspects of the job! Thank you!
• Kaylee Sullivan: Kaylee does such an amazing job supporting communications about all of our efforts of the College! November Shout-Outs

• Christian Konczal: Christian is crushing it on bringing on the fun down at Lakeside and in the new Esports space. He is someone that consistently educates our community on Esports and where we are heading as a College. He is there to support our students and also help them level up the overall program of esports. The Extra Life program more than tripled the amount of money they raised for charity under Christian's watch. Way to go and keep up the great work!
• Jared Cadrette: Jared is a wonderful member of the Champlain College community and our students are lucky to have him. He always makes time for students and does a great job lifting them up and helping them see most situations in a positive light. The world would be a better place if everyone had such a positive outlook as Jared. It is wonderful working with you and thank you for always bringing your best to our community!

• Chili Cook-Off Chefs and Judges: The 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off was only possible because of all of the wonderful faculty and staff who donated their time, talent, and delicious chili and sides. By all accounts, it was a truly successful event and the students loved it. (Faculty and staff seemed pretty happy to be there as well). Special shout out to the Judge's Choice winning chili maker Steve Wehmeyer and the runner-up Kathy Leo-Nyquist. Kathy's chili also edged out a couple of others as the People's Choice winning chili. This event could not have happened without you all and you are so appreciated.
• Juliana Burch, Ezra Demers, and Pat Lovelace (Area Coordinators): The 3 newest ACs (Juliana, Ezra, and Pat) have been doing amazing work supporting our residential students and working with their RA teams to promote safe and engaging communities!
• Ryan: Just want to give Ryan a shout out for coming over to my office yesterday morning and fixing a printing issue in less than ten minutes. He was super nice and helpful and his help was no small aid in helping me get on with my day and complete my office hours.
• Lindsey Godwin: Lindsey practices what she preaches. She looks for the strengths in her teammates, always finds the positive in situations, and brings an openness to every project. In online course development projects, she thinks carefully about the student and the purpose of each and every resource and assignment. She is a joy to work with!
• Danelle Berube: Danelle is a mentor and an uplifting presence whenever I see her. I'm so grateful to have Danelle's leadership on campus. It makes a difference to the community knowing we have someone as strong and caring as Danelle in our court!
• James Gebo: James is always so friendly and helpful, but was especially a life save the other day when my car would not start.
• Jean-Marie Severance and Megan Everts: Our tireless operations managers are the often-invisible force that holds it all together. I wanted to thank Megan and Jean-Marie specifically for their support in helping to make sure our recent Certified Scrum Master training went off without a hitch. We have several dozen newly-minted Scrum Masters who are grateful for the opportunity.
• Brian Andrews: Brian is always so great at responding to urgent requests when we need the website updated right away. This was especially helpful this past week when needing to get some crucial information about services out to students.

• Admissions Counselors: Kudos to the trad admissions team for their continued efforts and dedication to recruiting students in-person and virtually. They've been on the road non-stop since September and still managing to host 4 large campus events and several virtual events.
• Chris Brooker: Chris is always calm and capable! I recently came to her in a panic because of a mistake I made, and she quickly found a solution and saved the day. Thank you, Chris!
• Julie Eldred: Always quick on the draw with payroll solutions and a joy to work with! Also, the maven of efficient and pleasant flu shot check-in.
• Emily Merrill: Emily presented at the Single Parent's Program fundraiser a few weeks ago and I couldn't have been more impressed with the way she conducted herself. As a new Champlain staffer, she did an amazing job representing the College and the program in a way that has not been done for years! It is wonderful having her on the team and making a difference in students' lives to the magnitude that she is impacting our single parents, their families, and the students she serves. • Cory Davis: Cory Davis joined the Student Affairs, Diversity and Inclusion team in late July--he hit the ground running and hasn't stopped yet! A lot of the work Cory does is putting out 'fires' and managing the flow of reports. Thank you, Cory, for juggling so many balls and doing so with care and respect. You are a great addition to our Champlain team!

• The Advancement Team: An amazing Single Parents Program benefit event! Congratulations to the team on a very successful first in-person fundraising event in 20+ months!
• Megan Everts: Thanks Megan for staying late last week (LIKE 9 PM) To assist with the first year event for the Creative Studio. You never fail to step up to the plate and help out! It was much appreciated!
• Mike Bourgeois: Wanted to submit a "Welcome back!" to Mike Bourgeois, who had taken a 2 year hiatus from Champlain College, but has returned to the team at the Physical Plant. • Megan Everts: Megan is the BEST OPERATIONS MANAGER a division could have. Last night she stayed until 9 pm to help us with a first year student event! Did she have to stay? NO! But she wanted to make sure everything went OK! Plus she picked up all the pizza from Sodexo and brought it to the Champlain Room for us! THANK YOU MEGAN
• Residence Life & Housing: I just wanted to say that I have heard NO complaints this year from any students about their experience with Residence Life and Housing. That might not sound like a big achievement, but in my experience, students and parents can always find something to complain about because the business of matching students to rooms and roommates is complicated and impossible to get 100% right all of the time. Also, RA's seem to be MUCH happier!
• Physical Plant Crew: Thank you for going out to 396 Main street residence hall and cleaning up all the smashed glass in the parking lot. I realized it was there after I parked and sure didn't want to ruin a tire later in the day when I left. When I left at the end of the day, the parking lot was completely clean. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
• Compass Student Services Team: The Compass team is truly stellar. So helpful and responsive. Thank you for always being there for employees while at the same time running 100 miles an hour getting new students settled in. And they all always have a smile. I so appreciate them.
• Jackie Greer: Jackie always gives lightning fast responses to payroll questions as well as timely solutions to payroll snags. She is always a pleasure to deal with.
• Champ Support: Just can't shout Champ Support out enough. They never stop helping our campus run smoothly and are always there for all those tech emergencies--even when they are technically not open.
• Tony Calacci: Tony does so much more than just public safety. He is an invaluable resource in our campus community and is always ready to lend a hand, even with things far out of his purview. Tony has helped with everything from unjamming stuck doors to tracking down a nail file to assisting with malfunctioning classroom tech to fishing a suspected firework out of the grass--and he does it all with a big smile and endless positivity.
• Scott Stevens: Despite being dean, Scott never fails to assist his subordinates with all the small things--even if that means helping fix a malfunctioning classroom computer at 7:30 AM. All of us in ITS are very fortunate to have such a supportive and helpful boss.
• Darrin Pillsbury: I would like to recognize Darrin for needing to be in three places at once over these last couple of weeks. I appreciate the job he does and the help he always gives us. So many locks on campus! Thank you, Darrin.
• Amy Eastman: Amy Eastman is a gem and serves our students tirelessly- with kindness and the highest degree of respect and exemplary customer service. It's hard to imagine the hundreds of requests she responds to that help students out of tricky situations that they can't manage on their own. Amy is a quiet hero here at Champlain, and one who decidedly helps retention, which is a service to the entire community.
• Ursula Jones: Her invaluable support of the CLT during its busy pre-semester weeks. Ursula, you continue to be and provide exactly what we need when we need it. And as always, you are a delight to work with. We are grateful!

• Rachel Lavallee: Rachel is quite simply a rockstar. She always has a positive attitude even in the most stressful times and she takes amazing care of students, parents, and her colleagues. I feel so fortunate to be able to work alongside her.
• Tim Van Woert: Thank you, Tim, for everything you did to make move in successful for the residential students. Your quick responsiveness to issues raised was so incredibly helpful. Thanks for going the extra mile every time!
• Susannah Eriksson: Susannah is truly the maven of all things doors, always coming through in the clutch to fix access issues in ITS. Without her, we would literally not be able to get to work.
• Josh Corrow and Conor O'Brien: Earlier this week my colleague and I were crossing the four way intersection at Maple and Willard when we were stopped by a stranded community member in the middle of the intersection. Unknowingly, her car has run out of gas and she didn't know what to do. Out of nowhere Conor and Josh appeared (very superhero-esk), jumped out of their truck, waved traffic as needed, helped her push her car to a safe parking spot, and then offered to give her enough gas from their grounds truck to get her to a gas station. They truly went above and beyond, without any hesitation, to save the day for this individual. Thank you for being you and for being such a great representation of Champlain!
• John Earp: A big shout out to John Earp for assisting me in my effort to move all our SMART Space files to a shared drive over the summer months. He has been informative, patient, and VERY quick to respond to all of my questions and requests. Many thanks!
• Ryan Hicks: Over the past several months Ryan has been instrumental in the successful building and completion of several courses that were on tight deadlines. His attention to detail, quick turn around and his positive "we can do this" attitude made all the difference during a highly stressful time. Thank you Ryan for all you do!
• Tony Calacci: Thank you so much, Tony, for helping us get a new employee set up and running the other day. While you shrugged it off in true Tony fashion, it was extraordinarily helpful and very much appreciated.

• Champ Support: Champ Support once again pulled through recently with an urgent log in issue. They are truly tireless and always there when we need them!
• Leah Miller: Terrific effort in being the lead Counselor working with our Transfer students to assist them with submitting their application and enrolling at Champlain for the fall.
• Staff Council Networking Committee: Thank you to the Networking Committee and the helpers they recruited to put together and distribute the welcome back to campus goodie bags. It was so thoughtful and a much appreciated gesture. It certainly helped to ease the transition for many of us. Also, a thank you to them for organizing the Pizza 44 get together which was a blast.

This was Champlain's answer to Family Weekend which we couldn't have due to COVID, and instead, we held over 80 virtual events and had over 300 families in attendance in a year-long engagement effort. We have heard wonderful feedback from our families about feeling engaged and connected to Champlain. This would not have been possible without all of these people to help. THANK YOU!

• Faith Yacubian: Congratulations to Dr. Faith Yacubian for receiving UVM's Outstanding Dissertation Award in Educational Leadership. This award is given to a graduate whose dissertation "significantly advances new ideas and contributes to the knowledge and understanding of theories and practices in the field of Educational Leadership. And, a student who "exhibits a keen understanding of social justice issues and whose research contributes to the College of Education and Social Services' doctoral programs mission of preparing leaders who will contribute to creating more equitable and just schools and institutions of higher learning." Faith credits many for support and engagement in the development of this dissertation and expresses gratitude to everyone. Faith is especially grateful to students of color at Champlain whose analyses of racism in the classroom were foundational to the dissertation.
• Conor O'Brien: Conor is the best! He recently helped me with a last minute grounds project at a time that I know his team was scrambling with spring cleanup and graduation. We're so fortunate to have such an amazing physical plant team that go out of their way to make things happen for Champlain. Thank you, Conor.
• Lyle King: Big props to Lyle and his team for all they do to make our virtual events, particularly our Division honors event, special. They are the true "zoom wizards" behind the curtain. Grateful for all you do.

• Erica Donnis: Erica's annual local history event, "Maladies and Medicines" was so interesting and engaging! Erica did a great job of moving the event from in person to virtual, and the topic was so fascinating and relevant!
• Kimberly Quinn: I just love starting my Wednesdays with a reading of The Mindful Times. The way you inspire an intentional appreciation for this life and encourage your colleagues to engage in a meaningful creative application of your wisdom to the day to day has elevated our joy in all this ambiguity. • Tara Arneson: Tara wears so many hats, and always with such grace. Busy though she is, when I reached out to her recently for help making an informer report more inclusive, she responded immediately and had fixed the issue by the end of the day. • Marita Martin: Marita's compassionate, realistic people focus makes her perfect for the work that she does, and excels at! Thank you for juggling all that you do and still managing to somehow answer email almost as soon as it is sent!

• The "Lemonade" Stand: Shout out to the folks who host the "lemonade" stand for students in IDX. This is a group of faculty and staff who offer their time every weekday to provide information and interaction to our students. The positive effects for our students go beyond what we can even imagine. The little things mean a lot.

• Physical Plant Team: Not only is the team incredibly responsive and on top of issues all over campus, but when it snows they are out there making campus safe for all of us, on top of their regular work! Thank you.
• Our Incredible Physical Plant Team: Thank you for the wonderful job you do clearing snow and ice every winter so we can safely navigate campus. We appreciate all those early mornings!
• Sandy Yusen: Sandy manages to keep dozens of (very full) plates in the air, and does so with great grace, remarkable diplomacy, and a steady dose of good humor. Much of Sandy's work leading communications and external relations happens behind the scenes and outside of the College-so few have a complete understanding of just how talented, planful and valuable she is. I am one of the lucky ones who gets to work with closely Sandy on projects big and small and I'm so thankful to call her a colleague.
• Becky Colley: Becky is an amazing colleague and an even more amazing Manager. She trusts her staff to do their jobs but is always available to talk through projects. She will never micromanage, and values input from everyone on the team. Becky leads with an open mind and her goal is to do the best for CCO and Champlain in general.
• Beth Dietrich: Beth has brought so much to Champlain in her short time here. She is such a wonderful collaborator and creative thinker. She has organized so many incredible library and campus events, and to top it all off, she's kind and fun to be around.
• Julie Eldred & Jackie Greer: Shout Out to Jackie Greer and Julie Eldred for completing quarterly testing to keep us operating and aligned with our HRIS, Oracle HCM. It's no easy feat that you get done along with some other unexpected testing needs in the system while ensuring we keep on pace with payroll activities and processing of any faculty, staff, payments. Appreciate all you do behind the scenes to make a complex system simple.
• Jerome Holland: Jerome has been our Director of Housing and Residential Life for one year, and it has been one challenging year! Jerome, thank you for coming in with a smile, wanting to communicate and share and make our campus a better place. We are happy to be working with you!
• Stephanie Doan: Stephanie has a never-ending and never-changing passion for student equality. Champlain College staff, faculty, and students are so lucky to have such a champion on our campus. • Jennifer Archambault: The wonderful work that Jennifer did with the Faculty and Staff Welfare Committees to develop a parental leave policy proposal. While COVID nuked the policy, the process was a great model for future work and the proposal is still there, waiting for better times. Jennifer, you were a wonderful thought partner and champion for us all and we will miss you!

• Danielle L'Esperance: We doubt anything would run as smoothly as it does without Danielle! She is constantly at the helm of communications to students to ensure smoothness at the beginning of semesters. ID troubleshooting, COVID daily reminders, move-in instructions, billing reminders, ED calls, oh my! Thanks for all the work you do to bring all the offices together, Danielle!
• Faith Yacubian: Faith, your selflessness, compassion, and humility are an inspiration. Time and again, you take steps to make sure we are all doing the right thing, and you are always there learning alongside your colleagues, lifting up voices that need to be elevated and reminding us all that there is always more learning to be done.
• Tim Van Woert: Even though he is the director of physical plant, Tim has several times come in personally to take care of projects and to make sure the needs of the library are met, in record time. Thank you for being so responsive, Tim! Your help is much appreciated.
• Student Accounts Team: Thank you for working tirelessly prior to courses starting on Monday 1/25/21 to create ways to help students succeed financially for the semester. They really made a huge impact on our ability to allow students to return for the spring! Thank you!
• Josh Blumberg: As the Academic Affairs Committee worked through the Spring 2021 Course Standards, we told Josh about many of the faculty's workload challenges. He has already come up with some great tech solutions to help us out (the Google groups to make it easier to send emails to our classes is just one example). He's working on even more ways to help faculty spend more time teaching and less time on busy work. Josh, thanks for listening so carefully and thinking so creatively! We appreciate it!
• Leslie Van Wagner: The tweaks she made to a document to tailor it to specific needs that crossed 3 very different silos! Truly a great help to the overall Champlain community!
• The Team in the Registrar's office: I so appreciate all the work in the registrar's office. They do the background work that ensures I can do my job. They are quick to respond to any query I make and take their jobs seriously. They are dedicated and professional and some of the quiet heroes of this college.

• John Fenney: John was able to update our monthly Oracle Reconciliation report which was almost 200 pages long to now an 18 page report!! ROCKSTAR!
• Brynn Ion: Brynn has been an amazing, supportive and caring manager. She goes above and beyond to ensure that you are able to succeed in your role. She is a great listener and a very thoughtful and genuine person. I deeply appreciate all that she does for CCO students and staff. Thank you for everything Brynn!
• Erin Meenan: Erin Meenan is an unbelievable instructional designer and an amazing team worker. Her work is excellent, and she is supportive from day one to the finish line! Through Fall, I had the opportunity to witness that she is creative, she has a sharp eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset, she works with the SME to get things done in the best possible way for our students, and she makes everyone involved feel that we are a team! And we are, because of people like Erin!
• Shannon Tran: Thank you for getting the recent large mailing out on your own. It was no small task! We really appreciate all you do for the Advancement office. Thank you for being such a fantastic part of our team.
• Megan Everts: Advancement needed to get a large project printed and was unable to do so. When we reached out for help, Megan Everts handled the whole job (which was not a small task) and she even delivered the project to us so we could mail it. This is a really busy time of year for everyone and her willingness to help our team really saved the day!
• Jennifer Kennelly: Jennifer is so quick and thorough with my dozens of questions as we work through a few changing processes. I'm so appreciative of her help, never-ending patience, and deep knowledge. Thank you!
• Emily Kokot: Emily is patient, kind, and eager to help her teammates. She's responded quickly to questions and if she doesn't know the answer, has worked to find it and close the loop. Then she takes the time/makes the time to not only tell how something is done but show how. I appreciate how her desire to help others shows in the way that she engages with her teammates. • Miriam Horne: I could not have asked that, but her kind heart and thoughtful mind urged her to gently offer her help. This offer came out of the blue and at the most needed moment. • The Wonderful Team at the Center for Learning and Teaching: Shout Out from the Faculty Senate Academic Affairs Committee to the CLT. We would like to give the CLT team some well-deserved praise for its work over the summer. The pandemic took you by surprise, as it did all of us, and you rose to the occasion and helped us all learn, adapt, and do our very best for our students. We know that you put in long, hard hours to get us to where we are now and we appreciate it. We hope you get some rest and downtime soon - you've earned it and then some!
• John Earp: John Earp is one of Champlain's silent heroes. For those of us who are tech challenged, it seems like sorcery when John arrives on the scene and makes problems melt away. We are so very lucky to have a colleague with such a blend of skill and patience to walk us through our digital mazes.
• Wayne Buttles: Wayne has been incredibly helpful with all integration changes and troubleshooting to help us solve access issues in Oracle. His technical prowess is so appreciated.
• Stephanie Kloss: Thank you to Steph for working so hard and always producing such great work! You take on a lot (too much!) and we're incredibly lucky to have you here.
• Grounds Crew: Our Grounds Crew is amazing! Once again campus looked great for our student move-in weekends and the start of the semester. The team has their hands full and their efforts in keeping our campus green and glowing are appreciated!
• CJ Gardner: CJ has been running a twelve-ring circus helping everyone who has submitted a help desk ticket in the last 10 days. • Stephanie Doan: Stephanie Doan is balancing AHEAD Program Planning; Single Parents Program oversight; CARE Scholars prep work; communications to commuter students; emergency fund requests for financially insecure students; Food Pantry management and food security efforts, and somehow continues to show up to work with a smile, her contagious sense of humor, compassion, and professionalism beyond her years.
• Danielle L'Esperance: Danielle L'Esperance may not wear a cape to work (probably so as to not distract from her impeccable wardrobe) but she performs heroic feats every day. Few people are better suited to provide the level of customer service that Danielle does to students, parents, colleagues, team members, and beyond. Thank you for your stellar example always, Danielle.
• Howie LeBlanco: There are NO WORDS available to me to sufficiently celebrate all that Howie LeBlanco adds to our campus or what a gift he is to our community so let me start by expressing gratitude for his work getting student employees with early start dates hired while juggling the implementation of new systems and supporting hiring for the academic year. Let's never take him for granted - Champlain is immensely better because of Howie's contributions.

Megan was on this like white on rice, having to be flexible repeatedly as we shifted from side to side with various ideas with this new program. • Steph Kloss: Steph is a true marketing goddess... Over the past few weeks, she has managed to keep track of the GAP year task force, while packaging what we came up with in a manner that is inviting, colorful, and showcasing what we are offering in the best possible way. Steph did all of this so expeditiously that it was astounding. In addition, Steph simultaneously managed to get a gorgeous web page up and running for the "Trauma & Resilience" summer webinar series to begin on July 8th... Wow! Big Thank Yous, Steph !!!
• Emily Crist: Emily has done the most amazing job of leading our GAP Year task force, facilitating our frequent and lengthy meetings, kicking out detailed google-docs overnight, while gently guiding us with the focus and tenacity needed to pull this whole together in nine short days. May Shout-Outs 

• The CCO advisors, especially Janet Morrison, Alyssa Helme, Caroline Steele, Emily Peters: Supporting online students right now is no easy task- especially while juggling changes, multiple deadlines, many offices, and of course - student needs. The CCO advisors have been absolutely amazing at supporting students and our adjunct online faculty. As an online adjunct faculty member, I have been impressed with the fast responses and ongoing support of the CCO advising team, and especially Caroline Steele, Janet Morrison, Alyssa Helme, and Emily Peters. These four offer unprecedented support to their students- whether it is a pandemic or not. They also guide adjunct faculty members through tricky situations and assist in communication with their students. Our institution is beyond lucky to have these advisors working with our students and on their behalf.
• Staff Council Networking Committee: Shout out to the Staff Networking Committee for organizing Zoom Bingo. The Bingo was so much fun but the camaraderie and fellowship were even better. What a privilege and honor it is to be part of such a phenomenal group of people who are so professional, funny, kind, and talented. What an amazing staff we have!

• Pat Boera & Lyle King: Thank you for your partnership in leading the technical and logistical details of the first-ever virtual accounting capstone CPE conference. We hosted the largest number of external CPA participants in the history of the accounting capstone (approximately 40 external guests!) Thank you for allowing us to lean into our current circumstances and continue to provide our students with a unique culminating experience while delivering a valuable service to our community partners and alumni! We couldn't have pulled it off without your support!
• Susan Adkins: Susan Adkins goes above and beyond in every way. Stepping into the role of Associate Library Director during a time of unprecedented uncertainty and constant change, she has kept the needs of students front and center at all times, and never wavers in her support of her team.
• Ellen Zeman: So often Ellen's work is behind the scenes, but her "fingerprints" are all over the good work of Champlain College. Her ability to forecast impact and plan accordingly for the very best outcome for students, faculty, and staff creates smooth implementations, adaptations, and transitions. It is natural for us to disregard systems and aspects of our work when things are going well. But know that Ellen's wisdom and selfless efforts removing barriers and anticipating needs have helped make it so.
• Lisa Bunders: Lisa has been an amazing leader throughout this remote period. She is focused on giving our prospective and deposited students the best experiences at the same time as creating a fun and flexible work environment for her employees. Keep being awesome!
• Operations Managers - Megan, Julie, Jean-Marie, Linda, and Susannah: I just want to thank them for all they do - tirelessly, day in and day out, quietly and behind the scenes each and every day - for our students and faculty. They are bridges between faculty, students, and staff and their work touches all corners and most departments at the College. They are just as likely to be working with our Finance Dept, People Center, and Marketing as they are with the Registrar's Office, Admissions, Curriculum Committee, or the Bookstore. It is a rare problem that they can't solve, bridging gaps and seamlessly integrating multiple systems to make students and faculty's lives easier. Thank you!

I am astounded by the resourcefulness, programming expertise and nothing-is-impossible mindset they showed to make this happen. Thanks to Lylie for his outstanding tech support as well!
• Rebecca Mills: Rebecca has worked tirelessly with her staff and with faculty both directly and indirectly to help campus through the difficult transition to remote learning in record time. She continues to work with faculty teaching summer online courses and is thinking creatively about how to handle teaching and learning moving forward in uncertain times. • Meghan Haley & Brielle Hansen: Meghan did a truly incredible job of bringing our Admitted Student Days to life virtually. The events were creative, engaging and highlighted the very best of what Champlain has to offer. Meghan orchestrated these complex events while simultaneously coordinating the announcement of our new president, and thoughtfully and strategically leading the marketing team. Meghan's work was supported by the exceptional graphic design skills of Brielle Hansen who worked tirelessly to ensure that the presentations were bright, bold, and beautiful. Thanks to EVERYONE who had a hand in these events!
• Freddy Angel and Caroline Toy: Freddy and Caroline did an unbelievable job supporting faculty through the transition to remote learning. Through canvas support and so much more, they made this emergency transition possible for faculty and students!
• Amy Eastman: Huge props to Amy for all her help with navigating the unique registrar situations posed by the Degree Design Lab. You responded to our many requests with professionalism and found ways for our innovative curriculum and courses to interface with the systems of registration. • Admissions Team: The incredible admissions team has done an amazing job pivoting in a flash and moving all their recruitment efforts 100 % online! Your nimbleness and positivity are the essences of Champlain!
• Champlain College Online Academic Advisors: Thank you for being the most helpful team during my last 4 and 1/2 months here, for being a great example of student support, and doing an amazing job during this transition while doing registration and so many other reports!
• Laurie Quinn: Laurie's sincere, caring leadership during this difficult time has been nothing short of heroic. While she certainly has a team supporting her and helping her make these difficult decisions, a calm, steady hand steering the ship is what every organization should have and needs. And we have that in Laurie. Champlain has always thrived during crisis, but this takes it to a whole new level and Laurie has seemingly not missed a beat. Thank you, Laurie, for everything.
• Lyle King: Lyle was so incredibly helpful in organizing Faculty Senate, helping us navigate the technology and helping us practice ahead of time. You are absolutely invaluable to this institution.
• Jennifer Nicholls: Your ability to keep things organized and maintain forward momentum during these chaotic times is truly impressive.
• The Information Systems (IS) team: Your responsiveness during this time of crisis has been amazing. Thanks so much!
• Office of International Education - Burlington, Montreal, and Dublin teams: These amazing people have had to oversee the closure of our international centers and the transition of our study abroad students back to their homes within an incredibly short window of time under incredibly tense and constantly changing conditions. This was an emotional time for the students, who have planned for their semester abroad for years, only to have it cut short. The on-site staff in Dublin and Montreal, along with the Burlington team, have constantly monitored fast-changing global conditions, supported the students all the way through, and supported faculty in transitioning to remote instruction, even as the coronavirus crisis has cut to the heart of the global connections that these people show up every day to facilitate. International education looks completely different today than it did just a couple of weeks ago, but I have no doubt that this creative and quick-thinking team will come through this stronger, with a whole bag of new tricks for doing this work in the future. Keep up the fantastic work!
• All People Center Employees: Thank you People Center people for managing a difficult and protracted transition to new a new technology platform with grit and skill, for maintaining helpful communication leading up to the transition, for providing thoughtful and clear training sessions and instruction manuals, for turning on a dime with the decision to postpone "go live," for adapting to change with grace, and for after all that, providing helpful guidance for remote work and supporting us as we all transition. You have our gratitude and admiration!
• Noah Goldblatt: thank you for your leadership of our team as everyone worked to bring students back to the states these past few days. Thank you, having a steady hand at the helm was most appreciated.
• Emily Crist and Susan Adkins: Thank you for the fantastic leadership of the library in these unexpected circumstances and their commitment to doing all the library can to continue to support faculty, students, and staff.
• Champlain Librarians: The librarians' show of support - from Jessica Allard making the first contact with us about online film resources to Emily Crist offering to scan my text... 10-20% of it, of course - to has been tremendous. If I happen to fall on success while shifting to remote teaching and students find the transition smooth, the credit for those wins goes to the librarians, amongst other key staff and faculty.
• Student Health Center Team: Thank you for being superheroes and skilled clinicians at this time when the healthcare system is so pressed in every direction. Thank you for all you do!
• Susan Waryck: Thank you for being so skilled at your role and managing so many layers of the current situation. Your leadership of several critical teams and your poise throughout is admirable. You rock!
• Campus Public Safety Team: Thank you for continuing to show up and do your jobs with patience, balance, and good spirits. Thank you for keeping our campus safe and your willingness to do whatever the job requires.
• The Counseling Center Team: Thank you for supporting students in new and complicated ways. Your work is always admirable and you provide an incredible service to our campus and to have to respond in times like these is heroic. Thank you!
• The Housing and Residential Life Team: Thank you for coordinating the transition of hundreds of students off-campus while continuing to support those who remain is an incredible feat and they all do it with grace and compassion. Thankful for you all!
• Leandre Waldo: Leandre has been a Champlain communications go-to extraordinaire during these crazy times, and I am so extremely appreciative of her hard work and initiative. She is a light in these difficult times, and I feel lucky to work alongside her.
• The Center for Learning and Teaching: Thank you for heroically supporting the efforts of faculty to transition their courses to remote instruction. Caroline, Freddy, and Rebecca are working long days, nights, and weekends to create resources and provide guidance to faculty. We couldn't make this monumental shift without all they're doing behind the scenes!
• Champlain Librarians: They have been doing herculean work, finding electronic versions of textbooks, keeping us informed about what is available, helping with making pdfs -- I'm sure we are all grateful and appreciative of all their work this week!
• Laurie Quinn: For putting up with SO MUCH at the end of her interim term... I mean, come on. Laurie, thank you so much for all that you do and all that you have done. I appreciate your hard work and your wise leadership.
• Ellen Zeman: For having great patience, care, and humor in helping colleagues navigate the Curriculog technology system...it is greatly appreciated!
• Jean-Marie (JM) Severance: I would like to recognize JM for being the super-glue holding our EHS family together, especially when we are in the throes of mid-terms, frazzled by politics (both internal and global), or whatever. She slides in on the DL by silently organizing an amazing Ben & Jerry's spread for us to decompress, laugh, and remember to have fun. Her positive energy and "sneak-savvy" with surprise treats that seem to land at just the right time really give us a lift. I think it is easy to take for granted such a positive work environment where we feel valued and appreciated. Thank you, JM, for your thoughtfulness, continued effort to make things magically happen behind the scenes, and for being the rudder of our EHS family.
• Ashley Michelle Fowler: For your warmth and personal connection with students. I witnessed this in IDX recently, at the coffee bar, you told a student that your week was better because you got to talk with them. I greatly appreciate you, and so do our students.
