Linking GPOs to Active Directory containers enables an administrator to implement Group Policy settings for a broad or narrow portion of the organization, as required. The following list contains example applications of policy: A GPO linked to a site applies to all users and computers in the site.
GPMC lets you create and edit Group Policy objects (GPOs) and link them to AD sites, domains and organizational units (OUs).
You can link GPOs to AD sites and domains in the same way that it's possible to link them to OUs. The GPO settings will be applied to AD objects that fall in scope, i.e. in this example any computer accounts located in the Domain Controllers OU.
