During this season, Chinese will celebrate the lunar new year and family members from all around the world will gather to have a reunion dinner on the eve of new year. This year, Dragon-i has come out with a special Prosperity Abalone Treasure Pot (盆菜). Treasure Pot is a popular dish during this festive season as it symbolizes the unity of family members. It is a feeling of love, joy and prosperity. An authentic ‘Treasure pot’ must include at least a dozen of special ingredients which are believed to bring good luck, money and fortune. It has traditionally been held that eating treasure pots during this time will bring an auspicious start of a new year. During the Chinese New Year season, every order of Treasure pot will include a plate of Lou Shang 捞生. The Lou Shang consists of Raw Salmon Fish Slices, Jelly Fish, Carrot Slices, crackers, seasoning, sweet and sour source. The mixture of all the Yee Shang ingredients in a plate. Chopsticks are all ready by the count of 3 for “lou shang”. Nowadays enjoying treasure pot is as simple as ABC. You can either call or login to the website of Dragon-i and the pot will be ready to be collected and to go. From 1st of December 2013 until 28th February 2014, customers get to dine in or take away the treasure pot and share with family. For Dragon-i and Hong Leong Credit and Debit Card holders, the Prosperity Abalone Treasure pot is only RM338++ instead of RM388. The Treasure Pot is bundled with eighteen ingredients and is catered for 6-8 persons. Chef Chau Sze Lun posed with his creations. Signature Prosperity Abalone Treasure Pot consists of Braised Premium Chilean Abalone (10 heads), Premium Sea Cucumber, Shark fin, Japanese Dried Scallops, Japanese Dried Oysters, Fish Maw, Goose Web, Roast Chicken, Braised Pork Belly, Pork Balls, Premium Mushroom, Brazilian Matsutake Mushroom, Shaggy Mane Mushroom, Black Moss, Dried Beancurd Skin, Deep Fried Beancurd Skin and Bamboo Piths in Dragon-i’s Special Broth. One thing I like about the Treasure Pot is the broth. The broth has been cooked 3 – 4 hours with chicken and pork ribs until perfection. The rest of the top ingredients of the treasure pot are rich and luxurious that make people mouth-watering by the glance of it. Xiao Long Bao RM10.30, per basket – Originating from Shanghai, China back in Qing Dynasty, the iconic Shanghainese xiao long bao means ‘little basket bun’ is well-known for its mouth-watering meat filling and piping hot soup encased in each little dumpling. The is the signature dish here, it is a must-try when visit this place. Braised Pork Knuckle Shanghainese Style – RM68, The pork knuckle is braised in long hours and served with homemade sauce. Serving together with this dish are the pan-fried boiled eggs. The pork knuckle tasted great with the sauce together and the ratio of fat and lean meat is just perfect. Fried Glutinous Rice with Waxed Meat – RM48, the glutinous rice is cooked with 2 types of Chinese sausages, slices of mushrooms and topped with green veggie and slices of pan-fried eggs. The glutinous rice was very filling and the mixture of the sausages made the dish even delicious and packed with aroma. Water Chestnut Cream with Sea coconut – RM8 per bowl, the water chestnut are cooked in starchy style and with some egg white and placed with some sea coconut. The dessert was very refreshing and it was not too sweet. I love this dessert. Overall the dishes here are delightful. The presentation of the food is nice and the service here is up to standard. With this kind of ambiance and quality of food it is reasonable to have the price that is slightly on the higher side. |
