Missha time revolution artemisia ampoule review

Missha is a relatively affordable and reliable skincare brand which I have been using for over a year now. In addition to the Missha Vita C Plus series, I have been using its Time Revolution Artemesia series long-term. Here is my review of the Missha Artemesia series including the Treatment Essence, Mist, and Ampoule.

Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence

Missha Artemesia Set

The Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence is sold either individually or in a box set. I bought it in the box set which, when on sale, is approximately $49.99 USD for the full-size and travel sizes of the essence and ampoule. When not on sale, the set retails for $110, so I would definitely recommend waiting for a sale! The box set comes in a nice sturdy cardboard box and would be great for gifting.

The Artemesia Treatment Essence comes in a brown glass bottle that feels really luxurious and high quality. It has a nice weight to it and is very ergonomic to use. I would definitely recommend the essence for gifting because it feels so good!

The cap is plastic (twists open) and there is a plastic or rubber stopper to prevent leakage. I always use the stopper just in case. The full-size would not be practical for travel since it is glass and is quite heavy. There is a travel-size in the set, but it had some minor leaks when I took it on a trip.

Application

I have been using the essence in the regular bottle for several months, once or twice a day. The essence is light brown, and is a runny and liquid-like consistency. I usually pour the essence into my hands and then pat it into my face, but it may be easier to apply with a cotton pad. The essence is not sticky and absorbs quickly.

There is a faint herbal scent which is actually very relaxing….almost like smelling an herbal tea. It doesn’t last very long and I believe it must be the natural scent of the mugwort (artemesia).

Pros & Cons

All in all, there is not really anything negative about this essence. I love using it in the summer-time or hot days because it’s soothing and lightweight. On those days when my skin is parched and tired out from the strong sun, I need something that soothing and not too dense. This essence does just that.

The moisturizing power is low to moderate, depending on your skin type and on the climate/season. It likely would not be moisturizing enough for extremely dry skin or an extremely cold winter.

I also agree with most of Missha’s claims about the product, which is in stark contrast to my experience with its Vita C series. I agree that the essence is good for calming the skin, and is especially suitable for oily and sensitive skin types. However, I did not notice any brightening effect, and I don’t think it cures all skin irritation. I had a time when my skin was pretty irritated, and the essence didn’t help rebalance my skin. Only Cerave Cream helped it clear up.

Another great thing about this essence is the packaging! I love the glass bottle and I really feel that it is the nicest lotion/toner/essence bottle I’ve ever used.

Lastly, it is good value for your money. The 150 ml bottle lasts a long time. I’ve been using it for months and still have quite a lot left. Missha’s frequent 40% off sales also make it quite affordable.

Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence Mist

Artemesia Treatment Essence Mist, as shown on Misshaus.com

In addition to the regular bottle, I tried the mist version Artemesia Treatment Essence Mist. This is basically the same essence, just in a different mist bottle. I used this a long time ago so I didn’t get the chance to take pictures for this review.

Packaging

The mist comes in a nice plastic spray bottle. In terms of practicality, I find the mist to be better because it has a slimmer profile and is more lightweight.

However, the spray head cannot be removed so the bottle is not reusable. I would have preferred a refill system; it feels like a waste that such a perfectly good spray bottle has to be thrown away after being used up.

Application

I applied this essence everyday and it lasts quite a long time. The mist sprays very finely and lightly. I was a bit concerned by its brownish color because I was worried it may stain my clothes. Sometimes I put a towel over my shirt just to be on the safe side, although I didn’t notice any signs of staining.

Pros & Cons

Whether or not you like the mist boils down to whether you usually like facial mists. Personally, I’m not a big fan of mists and I found the regular bottle to be easier to use. With the mist, it was harder to gauge how much product I was actually applying to my face.

Also, the facial mist comes in a slightly smaller amount (120 ml) than the regular bottle (150 ml).

Time Revolution Artemisia Ampoule

Missha Artemesia Ampoule

Packaging

The Artemesia Ampoule is the second step in the Artemesia skincare routine. It comes in a glass bottle with a glass dropper. Like the essence, the ampoule bottle is very high quality and looks luxurious.

The travel size comes in a small plastic bottle. I don’t think the travel size is worth it because the pipette can’t get the last remaining ampoule out of the bottle. Also, when I first received the bottle it was not filled up all the way, so it felt like it was actually less than advertised.

Application

I applied one pipette of ampoule after the essence everyday for a few months. The bottle is only 50 ml so it gets used up much more quickly than the essence. The ampoule has the same scent and lightweight consistency of the essence. It spreads easily on the face and doesn’t feel thick, heavy, or sticky like a serum.

Pros & Cons

I was really looking forward to trying the ampoule because I was hoping it would be more moisturizing. However, the ampoule simply did not provide the moisture I needed. I can see that it might be great for oily skin types, but I found it to be lacking for my combination skin. I didn’t really see much benefits to the ampoule that the essence doesn’t have, and my results didn’t really improve with the addition of the ampoule.

The Verdict – Would I buy again?

The Mist – No, I would not buy the mist again because I’m simply not into facial mists.

The Essence (regular bottle) – After I got the mist, I bought the regular bottle of essence. So yes, I already did buy another. I would be open to buying a third bottle, but mainly for the summer months.

The Ampoule – No. I didn’t experience any significantly better results with the addition of the ampoule.

The Set -No. The travel sizes were so-so and I don’t need another bottle of the ampoule. However, the set may be nice for gifting to others.
