Mr hyde pre workout đánh giá

About a month ago, I decided that it was time for me to do the ProSupps Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout review and see for myself if its excellent Amazon rating is justified.

So, I bought myself two different flavors, brought out my trusted shaker, and decided to spice up my gym sessions with Mr. Hyde pre-workout for the next three weeks.

Here’s how that went.

Pros

  • No proprietary blends
  • Very potent dose of caffeine
  • Good flavor
  • Decent price per scoop

Cons

  • Generally underdosed ingredients
  • Potentially too much caffeine
  • Several useless ingredients

Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout Pros & Cons

If I had to summarize the Mr. Hyde pre-workout review in a word, that would be underwhelming.

My expectations weren’t high from the start, as I could see from the label what I was getting into, but then again, I wanted to feel the product before saying anything.

Overall, I would have to say that Mr. Hyde pre-workout isn’t the product I would recommend to anyone.

Simply put, its ingredients aren’t good enough for you to spend your hard-earned money on.

My Ratings Explained

From what I could tell, the strongest feature of Mr. Hyde pre-workout is its price. Hovering around $1 per serving, this is one of the most cost-effective solutions to improving your athletic performance as far as pre-workouts go.

On a similar note, I can’t sit here and say that it doesn’t work. Mr. Hyde Xtreme pre-workout is definitely effective, and it will certainly get your blood pumping so you can lift some weights.

However, its ingredient profile could be a lot better - plain and simple. Nearly every single ingredient in Mr. Hyde pre-workout is severely underdosed or simply ineffective.

Key Details

Will My Performance Increase?

You certainly won't hit your peak, but my performance did increase while taking Mr. Hyde pre-workout. For many, that’s the most important metric, but if you just let me break it all down for you, you’ll understand why I didn’t like Mr. Hyde pre-workout.

Mr hyde pre workout đánh giá

First, my muscle pumps were basically non-existent compared to many other pre-workouts. I’d say that the pumps you get from Mr. Hyde Xtreme pre-workout are comparable to those you get when you train clean.

Since the citrulline is criminally underdosed and you only get 500 mg of Nitrosigine, if you're in it for the pumps and mirror selfies - Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout powder will not help.

As for focus, it was definitely elevated. I had no issues staying in complete control of the weights all throughout the sessions, and the effects definitely spilled over to the rest of my day, but we’ll get to that in a second.

Finally, I experienced a quick and powerful energy boost. It hit me swiftly, and it wasn’t long before I was buzzing. I was quick on my feet, eager to start the next exercise, and I just had this rush in me to jump from one task to another.

How Will I Feel Post-Workout?

I felt pretty good post-workout, which was kind of surprising. I was almost certain I’d crash, but all I felt were steady energy levels for about three hours and then a gradual decline with no notable side effects.

Now, here's where it gets interesting. I wanted to test how I’d react in different situations, so I took Mr. Hyde pre-workout both bright and early and later in the evening.

The results were: I crashed, and I couldn’t sleep. So, timing is key.

When I took Mr. Hyde pre-workout too late, my cortisol went through the roof, and I couldn’t sleep for the life of me.

Alternatively, once I took it right after getting up (and on an empty stomach), I hugged my pillow after lunch like a toddler would.

The reason I crashed, and you likely will if you take Mr. Hyde in the morning, is you flush your brain with tons of caffeine when its cortisol (a hormone responsible for keeping you alert) levels are at peak.

In other words, we overload our brains with stimuli, so they can’t properly handle the cortisol-adenosine interactions, likely resulting in a major crash right around lunchtime. [1]

To be fair, I did get a nice nap out of it, and so will you, but still, if you need to be productive in the afternoon - you might want to steer clear of this formula for at least two hours after waking up.

What Are The Possible Side Effects

Mr. Hyde pre-workout is generally safe to use if you’re a healthy adult, but some of the common side effects that could occur are:

  • Jitters and Anxiety
  • Paresthesia (skin tingling)
  • Insomnia
  • Elevated heart rate
  • Stomach discomfort, cramps, nausea

As for me, I had issues with two - skin tingling and an upset stomach.

I'm not exactly sure why (although I'm blaming caffeine), but my stomach felt uneasy. It felt like I had a boulder in my stomach for hours.

And, after some research, I've discovered I'm not the only one. Many have experienced nausea, heartburn, jitters, and so on.

As for skin tingles, that’s the result of beta-alanine, and it's unavoidable if you are susceptible to it. Short-lived but still inevitable.

What Flavors Are Available And How Do They Taste?

Mr. Hyde Xtreme pre-workout is available in six different flavors:

  • Cherry Popsicle
  • Cotton Candy
  • Pixie Dust
  • Blue Razz
  • Sucker Punch
  • Watermelon Rush

I tried the Watermelon Rush and Blue Razz pre-workout flavors, and I did not regret my decision. Really good stuff!

Blue Razz tastes like blueberries, so it goes down nice and easy. It’s tangy and sour, but it does have a slight chemical hint to it, but I didn’t really mind it.

The same goes for Watermelon Rush. It has a nice watermelon flavor, not overly sweet, without an aftertaste.

Both mixed and dissolved easily, but that’s to be expected from a 7-gram serving.

One thing I will say is that it is always sad when the strongest feature of pre-workout supplements is their flavor, but then again, at least you have something.

Is It A Fair Price?

I wouldn’t necessarily call Mr. Hyde pre-workout a fair price. Don’t get me wrong, it is very budget-friendly. Mr. Hyde pre-workout is one of the most affordable products on the market.

However, considering this formula is essentially tasty caffeine powder with some other ingredients sprinkled in there, I’d say it is still way too expensive for what you’re actually getting.

Who Is It Best For?

I genuinely wouldn’t say Mr. Hyde pre-workout is good for anyone - let alone the best.

Mr. Hyde pre-workout is one of those dietary supplements that are potent, but at the end of the day - they lack substance. Without sounding too harsh, this is just an overpriced can of caffeine.

Who Is It Not Good For?

As far as I'm concerned, Mr. Hyde pre-workout shouldn’t be anyone’s go-to choice. In addition to that, pre-workouts with caffeine levels this high cannot be good for:

  • People sensitive to stimulants
  • People with pre-existing cardiovascular issues
  • People using specific medications
  • Pregnant or nursing mothers

If you’d like to hear what the Pro Supps has to say, they recommend: “those who have a family history of heart disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, psychiatric conditions, or seizure disorder" should stay away from Mr. Hyde Xtreme.

Tips For Increasing Performance Using Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout

The best tip for increasing performance while using Mr. Hyde Xtreme pre-workout is to stop using it and move on to something better. I know it sounds harsh, but that’s the truth.

You absolutely shouldn’t try to double-scoop Mr. Hyde, as nearly 800 mg of caffeine could cause serious side effects, some of which could put you in the hospital.

Also, while a healthy diet and lifestyle habits certainly help, I can’t sit here and pretend any of that would help improve this formula in any meaningful way.

You could, theoretically, add some citrulline powder or tyrosine to the mix, but that would be ludicrous. If you wanted to mix your own pre-workout powder, you wouldn’t buy a pre-made one in the first place.

Caffeine

Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant that has been extensively researched for its performance-enhancing properties. Caffeine functions by blocking adenosine receptors, which in turn increases alertness and reduces the perception of fatigue. [2] This can lead to:

  • Increased alertness and energy levels
  • Reduced perception of fatigue
  • Enhanced endurance and power output
  • Improved focus and concentration

420mg dose, as found in the Mr. Hyde pre-workout, is a considerable amount, higher than what is typically seen in many other products.

However, this 420 mg (378 mg of pure caffeine) dose is a caffeine matrix mixture composed of:

  • 300 mg of caffeine anhydrous
  • 70 mg of Di-caffeine malate
  • 50 mg of caffeine citric acid blend

Consequently, not all its effects are immediate. This blend not only allows for a slightly prolonged caffeine effect but also lowers the chance of any common adverse effects.

Citrulline

Citrulline is a non-essential amino acid that acts as a precursor to arginine, a key amino acid involved in the synthesis of nitric oxide (NO).

Elevated nitric oxide production leads to vasodilation, which can improve blood flow to muscles during exercise. This enhanced circulation may aid in:

  • Delivering oxygen and nutrients
  • Improved workout performance [3]
  • Reduced muscle fatigue
  • More pronounced muscle pumps

Some research even suggests it can help with muscle recovery and alleviate soreness, but the evidence is not as ironclad here.

However, the dosage is crucial when considering citrulline’s efficacy. Since many studies have unequivocally shown benefits with doses ranging from 6g to 8g, a 500mg dose of L-citrulline aspartate is incredibly low.

In fact, at this dose, you should not expect to realize any of the aforementioned performance-enhancing benefits.

L-Tyrosine

L-tyrosine is an amino acid that plays a pivotal role in the production of neurotransmitters, especially dopamine and norepinephrine. These neurotransmitters are crucial for mood regulation, focus, and stress response.

Commonly found in pre-workout (and sometimes nootropic blends), L-tyrosine can potentially:

  • Enhance cognitive function under stress
  • Improve mood and mental clarity
  • Boost focus during exhaustive tasks

However, once again, the dose is the issue with Mr. Hyde pre-workout.

Effective tyrosine dosages for noticeable effects usually range between 500mg to 2g, with the latter being more optimal.

At a meager 50mg dose, Mr. Hyde pre-workout fails to deliver a meaningful impact on cognitive function or mood enhancement.

L-Theanine

L-theanine, an amino acid found primarily in tea leaves, is known for its calming and cognitive-enhancing properties. It is often included in pre-workout supplements because it may:

  • Promote relaxation without drowsiness
  • Enhance attention and focus
  • Improve sleep quality
  • Mitigate caffeine side effects

Most importantly, in synergy with caffeine, theanine can modulate the stimulating effects, leading to a smoother, more focused energy without the jitters and anxiety.

However, for tangible results, you’d have to consume between 100mg and 200mg of L-theanine.

Given that Mr. Hyde offers only 50mg (to a grand total of 420mg of caffeine), it is quite unlikely you’ll experience any of the mentioned benefits, although this dose is known to work. [4]

Apart from caffeine, Mr. Hyde contains only one additional stimulant - Theacrine.

Theacrine is a naturally occurring purine alkaloid found in certain teas and coffee species. It is known to be milder and longer-lasting than caffeine, providing sustained energy without subsequent crashes, which is one of the main reasons many supplement companies include it in their pre-workout powders.

However, once again, Pro Supps undercuts the dose quite a bit.

Mr hyde pre workout đánh giá

Research suggests that the benefits become noticeable at dosages around 200 - 300 mg (with anything above 50 mg being potentially effective), and since we’re only getting 25 mg of theacrine, it’s safe to say this is another miss for Mr. Hyde.

First up, we have 2.5 g of beta-alanine, which can improve exercise performance and reduce muscle fatigue. However, the optimal dosage for performance benefits often starts at 3.2g, making this slightly underdosed.

Creatine is known to enhance strength, power, and muscle volume. While creatine HCL is a more soluble form of creatine, one gram is hardly enough for anyone heavier than 100 pounds, and even if it was, there really isn’t a lot of room for creatine in a pre-workout supplement setting, as its primarly role lies in muscle building, not energy-boosting.

Nitrosigine is a form of arginine that can boost nitric oxide levels, promoting better blood flow. I generally like Nitrosigine, as it does work quite well, but its effects are limited at 500 mg. [5]

As for choline, it supports brain health and can enhance cognitive function, and unlike every other ingredient in this formula, this one’s actually decently dosed at 500 mg.

Next up, we have 25 mg of GABA, a neurotransmitter known to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. However, its benefits (as an oral supplement) are not backed by science, and as far as the literature is concerned, GABA does not cross the blood-brain barrier when taken orally.

Finally, we have 3mg of Yohimbe, which can aid in fat loss and enhance blood flow. It is also a known stimulant, but at 3 mg, it’s virtually ineffective.

In summary, apart from choline bitartrate, most of the other ingredients are just fancy names on a label, considering they’re underdosed to the point of being completely ineffective.

How I Felt When I Took Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout

Allow me to walk you through how I felt when I took Mr. Hyde Xtreme pre-workout these past three weeks.

Within 15 Minutes

I felt the effects of Mr. Hyde pre-workout supplement within 15 minutes every single time, and it was almost always the same.

It would begin with my skin getting warmer and tinglier (the second one was from beta-alanine), and as time went by, I would feel like someone had lit a fire inside of me.

While this might sound bad, it actually wasn’t. Mr. Hyde made me feel “hyped up,” as the kids would say. There was this burning desire inside of me, and I could honestly say I found myself rushing to the gym just so I could start as early as possible.

Within 60 Minutes

On most days, 60 minutes after taking Mr. Hyde pre-workout, I would be halfway through my session, and I’d feel great.

My strength and desire to lift would still be strong, and despite the fact I was a couple of sets in, I would still feel completely fresh and rested. I wouldn’t cheat on my form, I wouldn’t give up until failure, and I would genuinely give it my all.

However, some days weren’t so great. On several occasions (three, to be precise), my stomach began acting up around this time, and it would be quite uncomfortable trying to train feeling like that.

The best way I could describe this feeling is if my stomach had risen a few inches and I had rocks lodged inside of it. It wasn’t painful, per se, but it was uncomfortable, and it definitely impacted my mood and performance.

After 6+ Hours

Apart from the days I experimented with Mr. Hyde pre-workout timing - I felt excellent six-plus hours in. My energy levels were where they should be, I wouldn’t crash, my mind wouldn’t be foggy, etc. I just felt like I usually would.

Now, the stomach issues did linger for 2-3 hours each time they were present, but never once did it feel uncomfortable longer than that.

How Does It Compare To Other Pre-Workouts?

Let's see if Mr. Hyde can beat the competition.

ProSupps Mr. Hyde Vs C4 Pre-Workout

I'll never figure out why the Original C4 is one of the most popular pre-workout formulas. It's just bad. In fact, Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout is like a steroid compared to C4 in every way, and I've just explained to you in great detail why Mr. Hyde pre-workout supplement isn't all that good.

But, in this head-to-head matchup, Mr. Hyde wins. It's better dosed, gives more energy, is more delicious, and can help you push through the workout, even though it is "just" because of the immense caffeine dose.

Mr. Hyde Xtreme

  • More potent
  • Better-tasting

C4 Original

  • Better suited for beginners
  • More citrulline

ProSupps Mr. Hyde Vs REDCON1 Total War Pre-Workout

REDCON1 Total War Pre-Workout puts Mr. Hyde to shame and wins this one by a landslide.

Total War is a very good pre-workout. It is a well-balanced formula (in places where it matters the most), providing you with 6 grams of L-Citrulline and about 320 mg of caffeine, along with some taurine to help you get to work.

While some other ingredients may be here and there, if you’re genuinely looking for an energy-boosting formula to pair with your other supplements and balanced diet - this is the one.

Total War

  • Much better formula
  • Excellent price-to-value ratio

Mr. Hyde Xtreme

  • Does not clump
  • Better-tasting

What We Have Taken Into Consideration For Giving You A Final Verdict

In the end, I just wanted to tell you why you should trust me.

My Expertise In Supplements

I've been in the supplement world for a good chunk of time. Nearly a decade.

What I learned along the way is that while you can tell a lot about a product just by reading labels, nothing beats hands-on experience. So, I've personally tried a whole bunch of supplements - good, bad, and everything in between - and today, I can confidently tell you what genuinely does the trick.

Additionally, I've dug deep into research and scientific literature to find out what works and what doesn't, so I like to think that my expertise stands on several very strong legs - including my background in pharmacology and sports nutritionist certificate.

Reviewing Other Products

On top of all that, I've reviewed a ton of products out there. That means I've seen the good, the bad, and the downright questionable.

I’ve seen brands that rock and others that... well, not so much. All of this has given me a solid radar for spotting the real deals from the duds, regardless of what you're looking for!

Final Words

To sum up the Mr. Hyde Pre-Workout review - this is not a product I'd recommend.

Mr. Hyde pre-workout contains most of the right ingredients that can help you achieve better workout results, but the doses are either undercut or completely ineffective.

While Pro Supps is one of, if not the leading brand for supplements at this point, Mr. Hyde Xtreme is not their finest product to help you reach your fitness goals.

If I'm being completely honest, there are other formulas that are similarly priced that would help you more - like one of the best pre-workout supplements you see below.
