2023 Forester specs: Engine output, gas mileage, and towing

All 2023 Subaru Forester models feature a 2.5-liter flat-four engine, which produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. Also, for all-weather traction and driving over rough terrain, the Forester comes standard with an all-wheel drive system. 

On the efficiency front, the Forester gets an estimated gas mileage of up to 33 combined mpg. Also, the standard model can tow up to 1,500 pounds, while the Wilderness trim has a towing capacity of 3,000 pounds. Furthermore, the Wilderness trim is the most off-road capable model in the Forester lineup, with its 9.2-inch ground clearance, specially-tuned suspension, and all-terrain tires. 

Additionally, the Forester offers a wide array of safety-enhancing driving assistance features. This includes automatic emergency steering, lane-keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind-spot detection. 

2023 Forester: Passenger and cargo space

The new 2023 Forester can seat up to five people, with a total passenger volume of 111.6 cu-ft. Also, for legroom, it provides 43.3 inches for the front seats and 39.4 inches for the rear. 

Additionally, for storage space, the Forester has a rear cargo capacity of 28.9 cu-ft and a maximum cargo capacity of 74.2 cu-ft.
