Just as soon as I declared iOS 12.1.3 over and done with, Apple went and proved me wrong, releasing iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 4 in the same week they released Public Beta 3. My guess is that there was some crucial bug fixed that needed immediate testing or the public release is happening very, very soon. So why am I only writing about this on Monday? Because something happened to my iOS 12.1.3 build that I didn't even realize could happen. Ever since iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 2, I've not been receiving over the air (OTA) updates of the latest betas. Remember how I blamed a rogue Automatic Update switch for not receiving Public Beta 3 (build 16D5037a)? When I checked my build number (under About), I discovered my installed build was 16D5032a from way back in December! I double checked to make sure my beta profile was installed properly and, sure enough, it had vanished! In fact, the entire Profile setting had disappeared from my settings (which is normal, if you don't have a profile installed). Where did my Public Beta profile go? I have no clue. Luckily, it was easy to get a new one. I logged in to my Apple Beta Software Program account from my iPhone, and downloaded a fresh profile for my device. One reboot later and I was a quick General > Software Update away from installing iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 4. What's Fixed? I'm glad this happened for two reasons. One: it shows that weird things can always happen when you're beta testing. It doesn't matter if it's your first beta or if you've been doing it for years. That's why you should always test on a secondary device. You never know when your entire iOS install will go sideways. Second: it gave me something to write about. Because if you said "ECG and iPad audio, something, something…" in response to this section header, you'd be right. Apple's official release notes haven't budged since the release of iOS 12.1.3 Public Beta 2. What's Next? Honestly, my disappearing profile drama was the most interesting thing to happen in this entire beta cycle. iOS 12.1.3 has addressed minor bugs and nothing more. It's only because of the holiday delay that it hasn't been released to the public yet. That said, I'd expect a public release sometime soon this week, to be followed close behind by iOS 12.1.4. Apple is releasing its fourth iOS 12.1.3 developer beta later today, only 3 days after releasing its third beta. The release notes only mention bug fixes, but we’ll update if anything interesting can be found on the new beta. iOS 12 has seen numerous updates such as Group FaceTime, Dual SIM support, and other notable changes as part of iOS 12.1 and iOS 12.1.1. We’ll keep this post updated with new details and findings as we discover what’s new in the latest beta. Apple released iOS 12.1.2 late last year that brought fixes for eSIM and Dual SIM. The release also changed the multitasking animation for iPhones purchased in China due to an ongoing legal battle with Qualcomm. We’ve seen some indications on the last 12.1.3 beta that Apple has added some code to be able to change the animation behavior remotely, when (and if) the legal battle with Qualcomm gets resolved. Chỉ vài ngày sau khi phát hành bản Beta 3 của nền tảng iOS 12.1.3 thì mới đây Apple đã tiếp tục tung ra bản thử nghiệm thứ 4. Và cũng giống như đa số các bản thử nghiệm được Apple phát hành trong thời gian gần đây thì bản Beta 4 cũng sẽ không hề có thêm bất cứ tính năng mới nào cả, Apple sẽ tập trung vào sửa lỗi còn tồn đọng trên các phiên bản trước đó cũng như cải thiện hiệu năng trên các thiết bị iPhone, iPad và iPod touch, đặc biệt là các thiết bị đời cũ.  Bản Beta 4 của iOS 12.1.3 được phát hành lần này có số hiệu 16D5039a, thay thế cho bản 16D5037a mới chỉ được phát hành trước đó 3 ngày. Ngoài ra, bên cạnh bản thử nghiệm mới cho iOS thì Apple cũng phát hành thêm cả bản Beta thứ 4 cho nền tảng macOS 10.14.3. Hiện tại đây mới chỉ là bản thử nghiệm cho nên chắc chắn sẽ không tránh khỏi các lỗi mới xuất hiện. Chúng tôi không khuyến khích cài đặt các bản iOS Beta lên các thiết bị sử dụng chính của bạn nhằm tránh các vấn đề có liên quan tới mất dữ liệu hay hỏng hóc thiết bị. Người dùng đã và đang trong chương trình thử nghiệm của Apple cũng như đang cài đặt các bản iOS Beta trước đó có thể cập nhật lên bản Beta 4 mới bằng cách truy cập Cài đặt > Cài đặt chung > Cập nhật phần mềm, tiến hành tải về và cài đặt bản OTA. Hoặc bạn cũng có thể tải về thủ công bản firmware IPSW từ ipsw.me và tiến hành cập nhật thông qua iTunes.
