Hi, Here is a fun one for us to figure out? I would like to trick Windows into thinking it has a second screen attached? This is so, when I log on to the pc remotely I can view a second screen. The scenario could be: Logon to PC using TeamViewer, make teamviewer show screen 2 and you have a second monitor for not a lot of hassle. This would also work with LogMeIn or any other remote desktop program that allows you to show one screen including iPad or Android Tablets via the TeamViewer app. The ideal scenario would be to have a script to add the screen and a script to turn it off, as and when required.

I found a solution. Some of you have suggest Desktop Managers to show several desktop buy what I basically want to do is use a tablet or spare computer/laptop as a second screen for my main pc as and when I need one. I know I could purchase apps like http://www.getidisplay.com but this requires a 3rd party piece of software to be installed in addition to everything I already have.
I have solved my own problem by: 1) Right click on the desktop, click 'Screen Resolution' 2) Click 'Detect' on the next screen 3) Click 'Another display not detected' and under the multiple displays option select 'Try to connect anyway on: VGA' 4) Click 'Apply' 5) You can now enable your desktop to be extended as if you have a second screen plugged into your computer.
To view the second screen. This can be done via LogMeIn or TeamViewer on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and I believe Linux: I used TeamViewer as I already use it, so already have it installed 1) Opened TeamViewer on iPad 2) Connect to the computer setup previously 3) Using a 'Monitor' button at the bottom, select and show screen number 2. 4) iPad now shows screen 2 from PC. This can be done via LogMeIn or TeamViewer on iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and I believe Linux.
Once you have done the intial configuration steps you can quickly enable to display the second screen using the 'Windows Key + P'. Hope this makes sense.

I wonder if you could just install a second monitor through add/rem hardware and set it up like that? even though there wasn't a second monitor ... just tell windows there is and extend your desktop..

If you are running Win 7 Enterprise on the computer you are using to remote into the other with and you have two screens on the local computer, you can use both during the remote session whether or not the remote pc has two screens.

I was going to suggest: http://virtuawin.sourceforge.net but looks like the Desktops app from Shepherd is by far better.

I use a program called Dexpot. It allows you to switch between monitors it makes. Wouldn't be a side by side though.

not sure this will work for you or not, found this out the hard way: user had laptop in dock, trying to do split screens and the properties were showing 3 screens, when you looked and saw just two, the laptop and the one screen attached thing was, there was a analog and digital cable running from the dock to the monitor, so the computer saw two attached monitors so putting two outputs to a single monitor, you "may" be able to do what you are trying ?? have not tried so no idea if it will
