Being fair in Asia is as popular as being tan in the states or in Australia. My mum and sister still wear umbrellas when it’s hot and sunny out and whitening products are common throughout all Asian countries. It’s super popular and something even I love and desire to achieve! Today I’ll be doing a review on something pretty special – the Vaseline Healthy White Instant Fair Visible Fairness Lotion! It’s an affordable and mass market product that is unique because it claims to not only help with melanin formation and hyper-pigmentation over time but it also claims to make you up to 4 times fairer! Show  The lotion also contains skin lightening bio actives that help you achieve lighter skin over time as well as triple sunscreens that help to lessen melanin formation by protecting you from the sun. I also like how the lotion comes in a convenient pump bottle so that you can quickly use the lotion before sleeping or before you start your day. When you first pump the product out, you get a big dollop of the lotion which comes out as a pink and creamy consistency. When lightly spread out, it looks really hydrating and it creates this silky white veil over your hand. I love the smell of this lotion too! After completely blending it out, which takes a couple of seconds rubbing the product in, it disappears but makes you really instantly fairer as you can see. Thankfully, there is no sticky residue whatsoever and even if it leaves a veil on your skin, it does not feel like anything. Basically, the Vaseline Instant Fair is a light feeling lotion that leaves me feeling hydrated without leaving a sticky or heavy residue. It really does make me look instantly fair. The true test is if we apply it on one arm and leave the other without. Then, we can really compare how much lighter it makes your arm! So here I am applying it on one arm. When compared, it makes a huge difference! As you can see, before looks a couple shades darker than the after which embarrassingly enough, matches my face of make-up much better. I took this picture a week ago before I did this blog post when I tried it out and I’m pretty amazed. I love how it does this without making you feel like you’re wearing anything to achieve this effect. Most moisturisers just stop at goal one – offering hydration and a claim to help make you fairer over time. However, the Vaseline Instant Fair lotion takes it one step further and does actually make you instantly fairer on the spot! I’m not promoting skin bleaching or anything. But I wanted something to even out my skintone especially on my arms and legs. This product caught my eye! It was the Vaseline Healthy White Instant Fair Serum. It claims to: 1. 4x instantly fairer skin in a lightweight, non sticky formulation. 2. With triple sunscreens to protect against the UVA & UVB rays of the sun. 3. With microdroplets of Vaseline Jelly to heal dry skin from within. The packaging came in a tube that allows you to control the amount by squeezing it to dispense the product. Contained 70 ml of the product which is great for travelling. MY SKINTYPE: OILY/COMBINATION/SENSITIVE and acne prone At the front of the packaging it clearly claims to “heal dry skin” which made be a bit concerned because it may be oil based and might appear greasy once applied. Then it was a serum, so serum’s are generally known to be lightweight in consistency and non greasy upon application which made me more curious to check this product out! Along with the brightening claims, it also stated that it reduces blemishes on 1st application. Hmmm. . . not really sure if I would test this product on my face. Ingredients:Water, Isopropyl Myristate, Stearic Acid, Mineral Oil, Glyceryl stearate, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, niacinamide, glycerin, triethanolamine, phenoxyethanol, dimethicone, butyl methoxydibenzolymethane, carbomer, cetyl alcohol, methyl paraben, disodium edta, hydroxystearic acid, propyl paraben, petrolatum, titanium dioxide, alumnium hydroxide, isopropyl titanium triistoreate, triethoxysilyethyl polydimethylsiloxyethyl dimethicone, yogurt powder, perfume, alpha-isomethyl ionone, benzyl salicylate, butyphenyl methylpropional, citronellol, geraniol, hexyl cinnamal, hydroxyisohexyl, hydroxycitronellal, limonene, linalool Try on: The consistency of the product was lightweight and very moisturizing. Had a tolerable scent of grapefruits mixed with citrus fruits. Generally it came off to me as a very clean and refreshing scent. The color of the serum was “flesh like” to pink. Once applied to the skin, it goes on transparent. It didn’t feel if you suffer look greasy but it felt oily which is really great if you suffer from dry skin. That would be the tiny bits of petroleum jelly content on the serum. Upon application, it felt like a body lotion that was slightly watery/runny in consistency. I noticed that the serum was absorbed by my skin in just a few seconds and gave a soft, smooth and powder like finish. I applied it all over my body preferably after a bath. When I decide to leave the house and get exposed to the harmful rays of the sun, I still would top this serum with a good non greasy sun protector. Yes it did INSTANTLY LIGHTEN my skin but I had to pour atleast a palm full to achieve that which was kinda excessive in terms of using this serum. But compared to other instant white lotions I’ve tested in the past e.g Royale’s L-gluta lotion which was marked at 800 pesos I believe, this serum does NOT PRODUCE A WHITE CAST. It was very natural looking onto my skin. Ideally when using lightening or brightening products, It is highly recommended to avoid the sun at all times. Although this product is sold as a “serum”, I personally believe that this is still under the category of a body lotion. I would not recommend this to use onto the face because it has no coverage despite it claiming to “reduce blemish upon 1st application” plus for my case, it contained NIACINAMIDE which reacts to my skin so a NO NO for that. It didn’t look greasy at first but I could tell that this product contained MINERAL OIL too (as posted in the ingredient list) hence, If this did sit on my face for a few hours, I would definitely oil up. I’m almost out of the product and I could say that this product worked in lightening my skintone. Although it may take a while to see it. I would recommend using this CONSISTENTLY to get results along with avoiding the sun and wearing a decent amount of SPF. Does Vaseline Healthy White really work?Like I said, a little goes a long way, and no, you will NOT see immediate results, as there is no such thing as an immediate fix, at least not permanent. It takes about 2-5 weeks to start to notice a change in your skin tone.
