2013 and i just got myself the Q6600, paired with a micro ATX ASRock G41 mobo. gotta say its a sweet little combo. for the people complaining about the price... its worth it. i paid 90 plus shipping for a used one, don't pay more then 140 for one new OR used. unless your still with the 775 socket. mind you even though its an older outdated socket type/CPU it kicks A$$! upgraded my Pentium dual core E2160 running at 2.8Ghz with a windows rating of 6.2 and took it to a 7.1! at the stock clock 2.4Ghz, i currently run it at 2.8Ghz "1333 FSB limits anything higher on MY mobo"CPU mark score of 3255.only cons i can think of offhand is lack of L3 cache. but the 8MB makes up for what it lacks. 105 watts is pretty high but with all the cores loaded, after using Antec diamond formula 7 thermal paste it stays nice n warm around 120-130F with a stock, not so good condition HSF. for the price id say if you don't want to go with the intel i series, i3 etc, stick with this CPU. its on par with my old AMD quad core which was a Athlon II 640 stock at 3Ghz. which got a CPU mark of 3500. with a good board and water cooling, a 3.4Ghz clock on this bad boy will surely crunch out some impressive scores in many aspects!

Arrived today, Early which is Great. Very nice packing job. Over sized box for what it is, CPU in its plastic clam shell cover like retail, secured in an Anti static bag. then well wrapped in in Large cell bubble wrap. There was no way this was getting damaged by flopping around in the Box. Seller did a Great packing JOB.! FYI I did not say packed as Intel retail might do it, Blue box and all.

The STARS are because of no time to install and test it yet.... If the packing Job is an example, I should be very happy.

Edit: Got the this CPU installed, it replaced a iCore 2 duo. E7300 with same bus speed... She works great..!! Bios picked it up first try.. Win 10 took a few moments of work. Works Great.. Thanks

My Dell Dimension came with an Intel® Core2 Duo Processor E6420 with 4M Cache, running at 2.13 GHz with a 1066 MHz FSB (a 65 nm Conroe chip). According to Dell and various chat rooms, I could upgrade this processor on the stock Dell motherboard and current bios up to a Core2 Quad Q6700 processor. What I found that I could easily afford was the Intel® Core2 Quad Processor Q6600 with 8M Cache, running at 2.40 GHz, with a 1066 MHz FSB (a 65 nm Kentsfield chip).

These links are to the Intel product pages for each chip.
[...]
With my Core2 Duo E6420, my overall PassMark rating (score) averaged 922 over three runs. After the swap for the Quad 6600, my rating averaged 1235 over three runs. Very good improvement! However, my CPU test speed more than doubled after the swap, and my sub-scores dramatically improved for RAM, HD access, and 2D and 3D video scores. Only my CD-ROM test scores did not improve.

My Windows Experience Index for my processor and RAM were both at 5.4 with the Duo. With the Quad, both scores jumped up to 7.1!

Note - I have Win 7 Home Premium on this computer, with 4 GB DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM (Kingston HyperX), and an NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 video card.

So far, I'm very happy with the Quad 6600, and I expect it to "future proof" my computer for a couple more years.

I have been an avid AMD fan for years, but with the aging socket type and no major advances until mid 2016 I moved to an intel chip. I was on a budget, a slim budget and had to make due, so I chose to go with this particular chip. For its age this thing works very well on my Windows 10 build. This one chip sold me on intel for any future build I will ever do. I currently have this setup with 4GB of DDR2 (soon to be 8GB), and PNY 120GB SSD, and an EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 660SC reference card. I cant play all the newest games and have little desire to do so, however I have played the latest Lara Croft game on this setup and have little complaint with it.

I needed an upgrade from a Core 2 Duo and I'm very happy I went with this one. There are vendors now selling it for $120, so its pricing is on par with a modern i3. Its performance is, by benchmark, slightly worse than an i3, but one can use the same old 775 motherboard you have and probably keep your old memory. It also have a massive L2 cache (8mb) and 4 cores compared to the smaller l2 (4mb) and 2 cores of the i3. This is an entirely respectable upgrade even now and it should continue to run things rather well for years to come. Everyone seems to love the idea of overclocking it; maybe I'll get to that sometime. Stock, I went from a 5.8 to a 7.1 on the windows 7 experience index; your mileage may vary.

Great Deal on Intel Core 2 Quad with thermal paste. I used this to upgrade my security camera computer which was running a Dual Core processor and 100% CPU usage after adding more cameras. The CPU usage went from 97-100% to 37-57% which will allow my system to run much cooler and more reliable. A great upgrade for an older PC but make sure that your mother board will support the chip before ordering. Well packaged clean did not even look used. Thanks Much

Replace a slow Core 2 Duo E6300 with this, and Windows 10 immediately boost their performance. Excellent buy, price and dealer.

Did not arrive with thermal paste which was worrying but if you are buying a cpu then you are probably self building and therefore probably have paste laying around.
Works just fine, its a CPU, what more do you want?
Also if you are buying an OPTIPLEX, this is the highest you can go, do not get the QX6700 as X series are not compatible with older Dell optiplex models.

5.0 out of 5 stars cpu usata

5.0 out of 5 stars Upgrade auf 4 Kerner ohne andere Komponenten

Reviewed in Germany on September 16, 2016

What is a Core 2 Quad in computer?

A quad-core processor is a multiprocessor architecture that is designed to provide faster processing power. It is a successor to the dual-core processor, which has two processor cores. Quad-core processors integrate two dual-core processors within a single processor.

What is the difference between Core 2 Quad and quad

A Quad Core is a CPU with 4 cores. A Core2Quad is an Intel marketing name for their Core 2 series CPUs with 4 cores.

Is the Intel Core 2 Quad good for gaming?

Yes, I do believe you would be able to game with that type of setup. Although your CPU is on the lower end, it shouldn't limit you too much. As previously mentioned a 1050i or 1060 would be slightly better for a GPU, but the 1050 should get you at least 30 FPS at medium settings on any of the newer games.

Which is better Intel Core 2 Quad or i5?

Gaming Performance Comparison In terms of overall gaming performance, the Intel Core i5-650 3.2GHz is marginally better than the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz when it comes to running the latest games.
