It took place back on May 8 and brought with it a week of fun festivities. The spectacle of the events took South Florida by storm and the atmosphere surrounding the Miami International Autodrome was electric throughout the weekend. It left
little doubt that future races in South Florida would be anything but a success. On Tuesday, we found out when the next edition of the grand prix will take place. The 2023 Miami Grand Prix will be on May 7 of next year. It will be the second in a 10-race deal that was agreed upon between Formula 1 and Miami Grand Prix organizers. “We are excited to bring back the Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix to Miami Gardens for year two. Preparations are already underway to deliver
an event with great racing alongside an unparalleled fan experience for all of our key stakeholders,” Tyler Epp, President of the Miami Grand Prix, said in a statement. “In hosting a record-breaking event this past May, the anticipation towards next year’s race has been tremendous and with this announcement we are excited to unveil new details in the upcoming weeks.” Over 243,000 spectators attended the 2022 Miami Grand Prix over the course of the three day weekend of events. One of the major talking points at this year’s inaugural event around the Miami Dolphins stadium was a fake marina – made up of a collection of 10 yachts on the inside of Turns 6,7 and 8 which was surrounded by solid vinyl water. The installation triggered an explosion of photoshopped images and memes and become a major talking point – which delighted circuit bosses as it raised the profile of the whole event. Despite the buzz around the marina, it was unclear if it would be a one-off installation or would return in 2023. Now, after months of discussions, track officials have confirmed that several of the features that grabbed attention this year are to return. Beyond the fake marina, what is known officially as the MIA Marina, Miami will also bring back the Hard Rock Beach Club and the official F1 fan zone. The circuit has also promised an improved campus experience for fans – with increased shade and water stations, as well as the installation of more trackside viewing platforms around the track. There are plans to install 56,000 grandstand seats around the track for fans, which is an increase of 3000 over this year.
