"One or more selected file is not recognized by ProShow. Only images, videos and audio may be dropped into a show. Some file types (including many video formats) require that you have special drivers or 'codecs' installed."

The program does not even react when I try to drag them into my show. These photos are from several different photoshoots, and have different size and resolution. But all the pictures from one session has this problem, while other pictures (from the same camera and import) works great. This has not been a problem earlier. I have tried everything I could possible think of from manipulating the photos to converting them to other file formats. I guess i could even try to take pictures of the photos as well, but i need the good resolution.

Do you guys have any ideas/tips?

Thank you so much in advance for all the great help in here!

Have not run into that one before. The images in question can be opened with other apps like Irfanview etc with no problems ?? What apps do you have available to you (Photoshop etc) for image manipulation and we can go from there.

Another idea - try a new short show and just try to put the problem images in - does that work ? I have not had any images that I have created in Photoshop or direct from my camera that Producer had any issues with. These images are not on some sort of network drive are they ?

Another option would be to send me one of the images and I can see if I have any issues with it. Just some ideas to check out.

I use Photoshop and Lightroom for image manipulation. I just recently tried Irfanview, and it worked great. I have made a slideshow quite similar to this, and used some of these files, and that worked as well. (The show is about reconstruction of an old house, and now we are allmost done, so I'm updating the previous version.)

If i make a new slide show, it does not accept the immages either. The images are mostly on my local computer, some are from a portable device, but that should not be a problem - It works with all the other photos.

It could have been interesting to send them to you, if that won't truble you too much...

How about saving them to a different file format? Maybe .png ? See what happens then. Have you looked at the properties of the files and compared them to the ones that did work?

Freddemor - I sent you a PM - send me a couple of the problem images and I will see if I can figure out what is going on.

Hi, We'll like to know what happens. Why Pro doesn't recognize the images. We changed some avi videos into MP4 to work well in Producer. Perhaps a lack of codecs. Or, if you have a 10 minutes, reset Producer. quetzal

Well, so far it is an odd one - I can open the images he sent me just fine and was able to drop them into a quick test show with Producer 3003 with no complaint at all from Producer. More research required I guess

    Mikey -- strange indeed.

Freddemor -- time for grasping at straws. Suggest you delete the show cache file <show name>.pxc found where ever you saved the show. And delete the program cache file, proshow.phd, found with the program itself. These files will be rebuilt by the program when you next run it and then open that show. Many strange problems mysteriously vanish if these are deleted.

(If you're nervous about deleting them, just rename them. To the program that's the same thing but didn't delete anything.)

Yeah! I've finally found a solution to the problem, it's not the answer to the quiestion, but it's a good way around the problem:

I startet a test project on another computer, deleted the files as Dick told me, and then it seemed to work. I imported the project and all the pictures, and plugged in my external disc to continue the work. And then the problem ocured once again. I went back to the email I sent to Mikey, and downloaded the pictures into the default download browser and then into the project, it worked great - no problem at all. So I figured I had to send all the remaining pictures to myself. And this took a lot of time, so I got some thinking inbetween the uploads. And the only thing I actually did, was to move the files from one folder to another, just in a really complicated way. Then I tried the highway - simply copying the problem photos to a new folder. And thats it - it worked. Really weird. It seems that the folders themselves are the problem here, not the pictures...

I am really eager to finish this project, my first "big thing". Maybe I can upload it for you guys to take a look and give some feedback when I'm done. As a rookie I might need to improve some things...

And thanks for all your help! I am really thankful!

Hmmm - glad you found a solution. Your solution has the feel of a protection issue to it, but that is the first time I've heard of this one. Generally what I do is have a folder for each project with sub-folders under it for pix, sound, clipart etc. I then copy the resources I am using in the show to those folders, leaving the originals in the master directories. Yeah, it takes more space, but disk space these days is pretty cheap and I seem to have fewer problems with things going "walk about" as they say.

If you still have the original files, check to see if they might be "read only" files. This has happened to me more then once when I moved files from one place to another. All of a sudden the were listed as "read only". I have also heard stories about external usb drives doing funny things to photos and video.
