I have the “over 40 skin” that tends to be oily, slightly sensitive with some hyperpigmentation. I can’t praise this line enough, I love their snail mucin (sounds gross but is actually great!) especially, but I’ve now tried multiple products and have used them for several years. Quality skin care at affordable prices. Also, another bonus? It is highly recommended by a few popular Dermatologists on YouTube, that’s how I discovered this line. Try it and you may love it like I do! Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on April 17, 2017 I have recently switched from using expensive products (CLARINS, or PREVAGE system or Peter Thomas Roth) products...to the Korean skincare routine. The expensive products were not fixing my skin issues... 1st OIL CLENASING- Banila co Clean It Zero
Radiance, 100 ml, 1.2 Ounce to remove makeup (ART) Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 27, 2018 I've always had mild acne since teenage years with 1-3 new small whitehead pimples per week. My first acne treatment was the famous acne.org regimen of using benzoyl peroxide in the morning and night with Clean & Clear salicylic acid wash and have the stained pillowcases to prove it. I eventually moved on to benzoyl peroxide with Cetaphil wash and lotion which helped and when I got into western skincare forums I learned about actives and thought that I needed to start religiously using salicylic acid to cure my acne. I ended up with the first cystic acne in my life but I eventually recovered from that by getting on Retin-A and changing my regimen to have a better moisturizer (CeraVe cream). Even after using Retin-A, I still was getting 1-2 new pimples a week very regularly, but I was content with that and too paranoid to add anything new. I have to admit, I was very skeptical of Korean skincare because of all the exoticism surrounding multi-step Korean routines while western skincare has so much focus on "actives" like AHA, BHA, retinol, etc. There are routines on SkincareAddiction that have so much chemical exfoliation that you could probably melt your skin off if you dived right into it. I kind of just bought the Cosrx Whitening Power Essence because Asian skincare enthusiasts have so much hype around SK-II and I saw how ludicrously expensive that was and heard this was a dupe. I never really expected any results from it and I had it sitting around on my countertop and used it a couple times per week for around a year until I just decided to use it every day early December because I was trying to get rid of it after not seeing results. Unexpectedly, I noticed that I stopped having regular acne once I started using this every day. In fact, I haven't gotten any new acne at all since December 2017 except when I take a red eye flight and sleep badly (which results in having 1-2 pimples the day right after the flight). I suspect that this probably has something to do with the extra hydration that this essence provides compared to just putting on CeraVe and calling it a day. Evidently, my skin was just too dry even though I was using a moisturizer. I can't that my skin has been getting any whiter and I don't really care. But I'm very happy with the unexpected results that the essence has given me for acne. Korean skincare certainly exceeded my expectations and really contrasts with western skincare through its focus on hydration. Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 1, 2019 Please keep in mind while reading this: I have terribly sensitive skin (allergies that make me break out in bad rashes on my skin, something I feel I've been fighting since I was very little with medication, skin creams, etc. etc.) and it's really hard to find products that work for me. I had been wanting to try out the Korean skin care routine because really nothing else seemed to be working, but I also wanted to keep to cruelty free products. After some research,
I was able to create my own "Korean skin care routine kit for sensitive skin" and WOW, my skin feels amazing. In my set I bought: Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 1, 2017 I bought this hoping it was going to be the holy grail for my skin. To make it do what? I didn't really know, but all the reviews had me hopeful. The first day I tried it, I put a pump in my hand, spread it all over, followed by my moisturizer, which isn't really a moisturizer at all, but works well for me (Etude House Moistfull Collagen Emulsion), and then waited for miracles. Aaaand nothing. Second day, same thing. On and on, and nothing seemed to be happening. I was struggling with a lot of textural issues from some kind of unidentified food allergy, and had been for almost a year at that point, along with oily yet dehydrated, flaky skin, and this seemed to do absolutely nothing, so I stopped using it. Fast forward a few months, and the textural issues still hadn't gone away. On a whim, I picked up the Cosrx bottle again, and squirted 3 pumps into my hand thinking that if it wasn't going to work, I might as well use it all up. Then I followed with my moisturizer again. When I woke up the next morning, my face felt like porcelain. It was so soft and smooth, that I couldn't resist touching it. And that's how it's been every day since I started using 2-3 pumps of this stuff (instead of the 1 I started with), twice daily. My skin feels like silk all the time. If I do eat something that doesn't agree with my skin, I don't turn into a bumpy, flaky mess, and instead, I'm back to normal within a couple days. I haven't noticed any lightening of my freckles or spots, but I also don't pay all that much attention to them, so maybe something is happening there. I'll have to keep better track and report back, but for now, the fact that my skin isn't dry, flaky, bumpy, and dehydrated looking is a miracle to me. Images in this review Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on July 11, 2020 Well since this is my second bottle, I figured I might as well write something nice about it. This is basically my holy grail product that I will order once I run low on a bottle. It softened and improved the brightness of my skin so much that even if I go without 8 hours of sleep, my skin still looks great, soft, supple, not dull at all. It did fade a little bit of my hyperpigmentation/age spots, but only after long term (I'm talking months) of use. Even then, the hyperpigmentation/sun spots haven't gone away. They're just fainter. Overall, I love it. I have sensitive skin so when I find something that works, I hold onto it for dear life. This works for me. It doesn't have a smell, doesn't give me a rash, doesn't make my skin oily, and doesn't break me out. My only semi complaint is that it's kind of sticky but I usually apply it at night and then moisturize on top. In the morning, everything is fine. Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on August 30, 2017 I have purchased this essence several times now. I will probably keep purchasing it unless they discontinue it. I have somewhat sensitive, acne-prone skin with melasma (brown hyperpigmentation from sun exposure) and PIH. I use this as a first essence, so I apply it either to bare, just cleansed skin, or after I have applied vitamin C serum/BHA/AHA/tretinoin. This does not irritate my skin at all, and provides a nice first layer of hydration for my skin. In the months I have been using it, it has calmed down some of my redness and PIH. Unfortunately, it has not helped make much of a dent in my melasma, which is notoriously difficult to treat. It has a nice texture, like a runny gel. I use three whole pumps for my face and neck once in the morning, and once in the evening. As part of a skincare regimen, this can definitely help reduce post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation caused by prior acne, and I have found it helps me get the "glow" so often discussed in skincare circles. It is also an excellent value - one bottle lasts me 3 to 4 months of twice daily usage.
