Lan’s talk

My best triend is Ha. We’ve been friends for a long time. We used to live in Nguyen Cong Tru Residential in Hanoi. Her family moved to Haiphong in 1985. It is said that Haiphong people are cold, but Ha is really, really friendly. I started to set to know her when I was going on a two-day trip to Doson last year and I didn’t know anybody there. I gave Ha a ring and she was so friendly, she said, “Oh, I’ll come to visit you.” So she rode on her motorbike to Doson and twenty minutes later she was there. She stayed with me for two days. She happened to know a lot of people there, so she introduced me around, and we’ve been best friends ever since.

Long’s talk

My best friend is Minh. We met in college. I was there singing and Minh was a guitarist. So we worked together a lot. Minh has a great sense of humour, he’s very very funny, and that’s one of my favourite things about him. And over the years. We have been through good times and bad times with each other, and that’s one of the thines I like best about him. And we have a lot of the same interests. We like to go to plays and movies together. But when we’re going through a rough time, he’s really a good friend, and he’s a very good listener, and he always helped me through

Ha has been Lan’s best friend because they used to live in the same residential area in Hanoi. Beside, Ha went to Do Son to visit Lan when she is on a holiday there. With Lan, Ha is very friendly and helpful. She is also sociable and has got many friends and she introduced Lan around.

Long has been Minh’s best friend because he is a singer and Minh is a guitar player. They worked together and Minh is a guy who has a sense of humour. He is also a good listener, he is friendly and helpful.

Linda: They think my trousers are too skinny and my tops are too tight. They don't like my sparkling clothes or high heels. They want me to wear more casual stuff such as jeans and T-shirts. 

Tom: Well, it depends on where you're going. If you're going to a party, you could dress up, but 1 don't think you should wear flashy clothes every day. 

Linda: But I really want to look more elegant and fashionable. 

Tom: Well, have you thought about the cost? Perhaps your parents can't afford to buy expensive clothes. 

Linda: Maybe you're right. What about you? Do you get into conflict with your parents? 

Tom: Not really. But they forbid me to play computer games. 

Linda: Sounds bad. What's wrong with computer games? 

Tom: They think all computer games are useless. They want me to use my computer for more useful stuff. 

Linda: But there are some positive benefits of playing computer sanies. 

Tom: Yes, there are. I can read faster because I can concentrate more. Playing computer games after school also helps me to relax after a hard day. 

Linda: But your parents may worry about your eyesight if you look at the computer screen for a long time. 

Tom: Yes. they probably worry about it and want me to have a healthier lifestyle with more outdoor activities. 

Linda: That's right, I think you need to tell your parents that you agree with them and explain the benefits of computer games 

Tom: That's a good idea. I hope my parents understand that. Thank you. 

Linda: No problem. Thanks for your advice, too.
